Liam’s POV“Father, I need to speak with you.”“Liam,” my father exclaimed, straightening quickly on his throne. “You should have sent word before barging in like this.”Carlos, Dahlia’s father, turned too quickly also, with his eyes sharp and his voice oily. “The prince always knows how to make an entrance. We were just… discussing trade routes.”I glared at him. “Trade routes don’t make men whisper like conspirators.”“Watch your tone,” Father snapped. “Carlos is an elder in this pack.”“Elder or not,” I said coldly, “I want a private word with my father and Alpha.”Carlos gave me a small, tight smile that didn’t touch his eyes. “There’s no need for secrets between allies, is there, Alpha?”Father hesitated, his fingers tapping the armrest of his throne. “Indeed.
