Kaya POV The sound of someone shaking me pulls me out of a heavy sleep. At first, I groan and roll over, burying my face in the pillow, but the shaking gets more urgent. “Kaya, wake up!” I mumble, “Lily, what…what time is it?” My voice is rough, half-asleep, and my body feels like lead. “It’s time for you to open your eyes and see what the whole internet is talking about,” Lily says sharply, practically smacking my arm. I blink through the sunlight filtering through her white curtains. I spent the night at her place after the long lab hours yesterday. I’d barely had time to shower before collapsing on her couch. I squint at her, confused, rubbing my eyes. “Lily, I don’t have to be at work till nine. Let me sleep.” She doesn’t listen. Instead, she slaps my arm again and shoves her phone in my face. “Forget work, look at this.” I push my glasses onto my nose and reach for the phone.
