Tyler’s POV:The sun hovered low on the horizon, casting golden streaks across the training field. The grass sparkled with morning dew, the air cool and crisp, perfect conditions for what was about to unfold.Stephanie stood a few feet away, rolling her shoulders and stretching her arms. Her movements were deliberate, almost calculated, as though she were preparing for battle rather than training. To be fair, training with me wasn’t exactly a walk in the park.I tried to focus on the task at hand, but my thoughts betrayed me. Her earlier words about starting fresh had been unexpected, and I wasn’t sure how to feel about them. Part of me wanted to believe her, to accept the olive branch she’d extended. But another part, the part that didn’t trust easily wondered if this was just another setup, another way to get under my skin. I couldn’t let my guard down. Not yet.“All right,” I said, stepping closer and crossing my arms. “Let’s get started.”Stephanie straightened, her eyes locking o

Stephanie’s POV:“Ahhh,” I groaned, collapsing onto my bed like a rag doll. Every single muscle in my body protested the movement. My arms, my legs, even muscles I didn’t know existed all screamed in unison. Today’s training had been brutal. Tyler didn’t hold back. He pushed me to my limit. I could still hear his voice echoing in my head, barking instructions and correcting my form. My whole body ached as though I had been trampled by a herd of wild horses. There was a knock at the door, pulling me from my thoughts.“Come in,” I called out lazily, my voice barely above a whisper. The door creaked open, and I forced myself to sit up to see who it was. Nora stepped inside, her ever-composed demeanor a stark contrast to my current state.“Good evening, ma’am,” she greeted me politely.I didn’t even have the energy to argue with her about calling me “ma’am” instead of my name. I had told her countless times to just call me Stephanie, but tonight, I didn’t have the strength for that conve

Stephanie’s POV:"You're getting there, Stephanie. I can feel myself awakening. I think I will be waking up soon. Thank you," Lilac murmured, her voice soft. “I’m proud of you.”I opened my mouth to respond, but before I could utter a single word…..Dringgggg!The blaring sound of my alarm jolted me awake, and my eyes snapped open. For a moment, I lay there, staring at the ceiling above me, my heart pounding in my chest. The dream lingered in my mind, vivid and hauntingly real. I exhaled deeply, running a hand over my face.“It was just a dream,” I muttered to myself, though it felt like so much more. Her voice still echoed in my ears, her words replaying over and over: I’m proud of you.It warmed my chest, but it also left me uneasy. What had she meant by "soon"? How soon was "soon"?I shook my head and turned off the alarm, swinging my legs over the edge of the bed. A glance at the clock on my nightstand told me it was already 10 a.m. I had overslept, but after yesterday’s grueling

Stephanie’s POV:The walk to the training location was quiet, the solitude giving me far too much time to think. My grip tightened around the key as I replayed the breakfast scene in my mind.Their reactions had been so... strange. Tyler’s tension, Alex’s coldness, Aiden’s disapproval. It all swirled in my head like a relentless storm. What was wrong with those brothers? They sure knew how to make someone’s mind spiral.By the time I reached the location, I had pushed those thoughts to the back of my mind. This wasn’t the time to dwell on their behavior. I had a task to complete, and I wasn’t going to let their doubts or my own hold me back.I marched to the center of the room, gripping the key so tightly that it bit into my palm. Alex’s words echoed in my mind: “Don’t contact me until you hit the bull’s-eye ten times in a row.”I took a deep breath, my resolve hardening. “Let’s do this,” I muttered, striding toward the targets.I picked up a gun. The room was eerily quiet, the faint

Tyler's POV:Stephanie's comment about Lilac waking up soon stirred something within me. It should've been good news. It was good news but somehow, it fell flat. It meant that rejecting her was closer than I wanted it to be. The moment her wolf awakened, she would recognize us as her mate. Her wolf waking up was inevitable. So was the rejection. We all knew that. But I didn’t expect it to happen so soon. It felt too soon, and I wasn’t ready. My brothers probably felt the same way, though none of us spoke about it. Instead, there was just silence. Heavy, suffocating silence.I couldn’t help but notice how hard she was pushing herself. The determination in her eyes, the way she trained until her muscles screamed for relief. It was clear she was on the verge of something big. And that awakening? It was coming faster than any of us had anticipated.Letting out a long, frustrated sigh, I pushed myself out of my chair and left the dining room. My legs carried me to the field almost on autop

Stephanie’s POV:I didn’t know whether Sarah was trying to prove something to Tyler, to herself, or to me. All I knew was that she had challenged me to a fight, and there was no way I was backing down. Not after she’d called me out in front of him. Not when the challenge in her voice carried more than just arrogance. It carried an undercurrent of disdain. She wanted to test me, to see if I was worth the space I occupied.Sarah didn’t have to spell it out. Her condescending smile and overly sweet tone had done all the talking. She thought she could beat me. She thought she could put me in my place. And I wasn’t about to let that happen.I stepped onto the training field, my heart pounding in my chest, though my face stayed calm and composed. I’d been through worse than this. The way Sarah carried herself, the cocky tilt of her chin and the way she smirked at me, made my blood simmer. She needed to be taught a lesson and I was more than willing to deliver it.“Let’s see if you’re as tou

MANY WEEKS LATER~~~~~~~~~~~~~Stephanie’s POV:I stood in front of the mirror, staring at my reflection. My hair was tied back in a neat ponytail, and I was already dressed for the day—a black singlet, black leggings, and a pair of matching black sneakers. The simplicity of the outfit mirrored my mood: focused yet eager.Today was Monday, the last day of my training, and coincidentally, the final Monday of the month. That meant one thing: the RDC was taking place this Wednesday. My heart swelled with pride and excitement as I stood there, soaking it all in.These past weeks had transformed me in ways I never imagined. I’d worked harder than I ever thought possible, pushing past limits I didn’t know I had. Now, as I stared into the mirror, I barely recognized the person looking back.Gone was the hesitant girl I used to be. In her place stood someone stronger and more confident, someone ready to face the world head-on. I smiled at myself, unable to contain the joy bubbling inside me.

Stephanie's POV:My shoulders relaxed as warmth bloomed in my chest, spreading through my limbs like honey. The brothers had included me -me- in something this significant. My chin lifted slightly, and I had to bite the inside of my cheek to keep from grinning like an idiot. I belonged. Finally. But of course, Akira had to piss in my cornflakes."Do you even realize what you've done?" Her heels clicked against the ground as she stormed toward me, each step deliberate and threatening."You've put the Alphas on a pedestal." Her nostrils flared with each breath, perfectly manicured nails digging crescents into her palms as she planted them on her hips. "Any mistake you make today, any mistake, will reflect poorly on their judgment. Do you understand what that means? It'll shake the peace and unity of this pack. And for what? For you to flaunt your step sister privilege? You think this is the RDC?"I clenched my jaw, tasting metal as I bit my tongue. Arguing would only give her what she

Stephanie’s POV:Tyler mounted his own horse effortlessly, and soon we were moving as a group, heading toward the forest. Around us, other pack members formed their own groups, their voices a low hum of excitement.“Greetings, Alphas,” a deep voice called out.I turned to see Beta James Williams approaching us on horseback. Beside him was Akira, her gaze sharp and calculating. I’d almost forgotten they were siblings. James smiled at me, his expression warm and friendly.“Good morning, Stephanie,” he said, inclining his head slightly.“Good morning,” I replied, though I kept my focus ahead.“Thought you said you wouldn’t make it,” Tyler said, his tone neutral. “That you had somewhere else to be.”“I canceled it,” James replied smoothly, his smile remaining intact.Akira, meanwhile, positioned herself beside Aiden. “Hi, Alpha Aiden,” she said, her voice soft and sweet, her smile as bright as the sun.I felt frustration bubbling in my chest. I didn’t know why Akira’s presence near Aiden

Tyler’s POV:The hunt was going better than expected. The forest, shrouded in twilight, was eerily silent except for the occasional crackle of leaves beneath our boots and the distant rustle of branches overhead. We had already taken down several animals, their lifeless forms marking a trail deeper into the woods. Yet, there was an unsettling weight in the air, an offbeat silence that I couldn’t ignore. My brothers and I moved in sync, our senses sharp, scanning for our next target. Then we saw it, a sinister plume of smoke curling into the dusky sky. Against the deepening orange of the evening, it looked stark, ominous, like an unspoken warning. Smoke in the forest wasn’t normal. The acrid scent carried on the breeze hinted at something worse: destruction. I exchanged a tense glance with my brothers, their eyes reflecting my own unease. Whatever was burning wasn’t just the forest.“Let’s move,” I said firmly, my voice cutting through the quiet. There was no room for hesitation. We ab
