Michelle ran fast with the sack of wood on her back. It was almost sunrise and the birds chirped in anticipation. Yet, she was already in the thick of things. Crossing out every chore she was told to do. She could see their mansion from a distance. All the lights were turned on and she found it odd. Without another thought, she dashed to the kitchen. “Ellie, have you seen Odette?” one of their chambermaids called on her. They were looking for her half-sister. She gasped. “I just got here. Did you check her room or her study room?” She replied. Deep inside she was ecstatic. Finally, she could take a break from her abusive sister. She smiled while she was carefully placing the sack full of chopped wood in the storage.“We did but she wasn't there.” Another one replied. They were turning the mansion upside down. “Ellie, good you're here. Father wants to see you.” Oliver, her younger half-brother called on her. He was towering over her as he held her hands. “I already did everythin

Michelle closed her eyes and blinked thrice. She even pinched her cheeks to make sure she was awake. When she looked down at the window, the brown wolf was gone. Only men lying on the ground could be seen. “Mate.” There it was again. It seemed she could only hear it in her mind. She looked at the window but only saw some men and women cleaning up the mess. Ellie’s heart raced as she stepped out of her room, determined to make sense of what she had witnessed. This place was breathtaking, yet its beauty was veiled in layers of mystery.“Ellie? Where are you going?” Leo bumped into her as she walked out of the door. He wore a white shirt and blue sweatpants, his damp, tousled hair evidence of a recent shower. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw his pecs straining against his shirt. He was ripped. She gulped at the thought of him carrying her in his strong arms. Shaking her head lightly, she reminded herself. ‘Snap out of it, Ellie. He does care about you.’“There you are. Can I

Two weeks had passed. It was meant to be their wedding day, a time filled with joy and love, but fate had rewritten their story. Leo sat by Ellie's bedside, his heart heavy with worry. She remained in a deep coma, and each day felt like an eternity without her. He brought her fresh flowers, hoping their vibrant colors might somehow reach her in the darkness. With a voice full of longing, he shared stories about his day, as if each word could break through the silence surrounding her. “Ellie, please come back to us. I vowed to keep you safe, yet here we are, and I can’t shake the feeling that I’ve let you down. Please, give me another chance,” he whispered, holding her hands gently, feeling her warmth against his skin. In quiet moments, he sensed the stirring of her wolf inside her, a flicker of life that brought him solace, even as her eyes remained closed to the world. He pressed a soft kiss to her hand, wishing that this small gesture could forge a bridge to her spirit. The pa

Michelle woke up with a throbbing head and hot flushes. Her thin nightdress was drenched in sweat. The same went for her bed and blankets. When she checked her air conditioner, it was already on the lowest setting.“What's happening to me?” she asked. Her mind racked her memory. The last thing she remembered was being bitten by a wolf. Not just any ordinary wolf, but a werewolf at that. She lay back on her bed and watched the reflection of sunlight move in the ceiling.A knock on her door drew her attention to it.“Who's there?” Ellie asked timidly, not wanting to attract any attention to herself.“Ms. Ellie, thank goddess you're awake. Lunch is ready downstairs,” Ray informed her.“I'll be there in a couple of minutes. Thank you, Ray,” she informed him. She groaned as she moved her body. She clasped the handle of her bed, and the wood broke into splinters.“What the —” Michelle was stunned. She only applied gentle pressure, nothing to warrant its destruction. She walked towards her c

A huge cloud loomed over Michelle’s head. She couldn't bring herself to smile in front of Leo. Yet, here she was grinning as they strolled the village. “Leo…” a million questions swirled in her mind but she didn't know where to start. His callous hand brought warmth as he held hers firmly. Giving her strength to speak up again. “What happened to me? My body… it changed.” She let her hair fall on her face. Covering her left side. “You transitioned to a werewolf. You need to shift soon.” He paused for a bit and looked around. “I'm sorry for leaving you earlier. I should have been there when you woke up.” His eyes bore into her soul as he looked at her. The world seemed to stop when he spoke.Werewolf. She used to think it was just a fairytale. How could she become one? Though her strength and the changes in her body all pointed at something happening inside her. “I'm used to looking after myself. No need to apologize.” She kept holding on to his hand. Even though she wanted to run
