I sighed. Marcus’ betrayal had been really hard to take, but I knew why he’d done it, and there was some solace in that. He was right; he’d been blinded. He hadn’t been thinking straight. “If I could take it all back, I would,” he said. I missed him. I missed having him as my Beta. He’d fucked up, yes. But he was contacting me now to warn me about my parents and Gamma Stone, so that was something, and he was back there, at Crescent Moon, defending me. “I appreciate that,” I told him. “Anything,” he said, his tone shifting to a hopeful one. “I’ll keep you in the loop if I hear anything else,” he said in a rush. “You have my word.” I nodded.
