Naomi's POV"Hello to you too," the young man just walked right past me like he owned the house. "Sure, it's not much, but you would not be allowed to disrespect my home." I closed the door and turned to the young man. I could recognize him any day, because I remembered those days he bullied me, following every instruction of George Miller. If I were being honest, I would be very mad. If anything, I was not excited to see him, even though he didn't know him. "How did you even find me?" I queried. "I've been out here in the streets for years. If someone new visited the vicinity, I would notice the minute the first move was made to the environment. "I just didn't give so much energy to it, because I was expecting you to leave as fast as possible, but you proved tougher than I thought," he said. "I genuinely didn't think a girl like you would survive here,""A girl like me?" I interrupted. "What does that mean?" I probed."I mean, you look like a soft girl, princess and definitely n

Naomi's POV My curiosity got the best of me. I immediately placed a call to Lilly to discuss the new development with her. She said it was too risky for me to associate with such a company and I followed behind him at a safe distance. I needed to know what more was buried in the heart of Gregg. Whatever it was Gregg was keeping a secret, I wanted to know–I needed to. The walk was becoming quite long, and it was becoming more difficult to follow behind him.I called lilly for assistance immediately. I specifically told her not to come along the dark-tinted Mercedes-Benz S class because, lately, I had been walking with them all over town and if anyone would notice the movement definitely he, Gregg would definitely.Gregg would occasionally take a look in his mirror to see if someone was following him or not, like he knew I was following behind him, or like he was expecting me to. I managed to hide behind a couple of houses at every point in time. I had also learnt a few tricks on ho

Naomi's POV The feeling of Ken's rage against me was the best thing to have touched my heart in a really long while.Although it ended in an awkward silence and I walked back into the house with my head bowed to the ground, I could not stop living the moment over and over in my head. I had mixed feelings about the entire experience. A larger part of me was pleased to be in a place of happiness, but there was a small, but conspicuous part of me that felt like my relationship with Justin Miller wasn't meant to get this far. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't seem to shake it off, and with every passing hour that I reminisced on the experience, the emotional war continued. "Naomi!" I heard Gregg call in a loud voice. I got out of bed and walked to the living area, where he was already standing with a few tools to fix the water system. "I believe you had a better night's rest for the first time in weeks," he said with a broad smile, looking around at the furnishings of the apart

Naomi's POV "You did," I tried to save the situation. "No, I did not," Gregg was so sure, and I was beginning to shiver. "If I did call her name, I would remember, but even a good number of the estate members do not know her by name, because I seldom address her by that, but you effortlessly called her name. It couldn't have been something you heard from me just now.""Accuse me all you want." I said, "You clearly don't want solutions, so keep running from your problems, you coward!" I resorted to the one thing I hoped was not going to fail. It was not something I was proud of, but I was going down that route regardless–gaslighting."Will your problems get any better with Miller's? "Or do you just believe I'll do a much better job than you?" I kept shooting at him. I could see that he had begun to fold with how quiet he was.. "You know what? "You are right." I nodded, "They will always be much better people than you ever were and ever will be, because they know and believe th

Naomi's POV'How could Justin Miller send in his secretary to work with him, or is there something I am missing?'It felt like my life was starting all over again. From the loneliness to being directionless, to the fear of not getting anything right, or just running into the wrong crowd. One of the reasons I chose to always stay, no matter how abused or battered I was, was the fear of starting over. Time and again, I would promise myself that I am now bold enough to start over, that I was ready to put it all behind me and I would take responsibility for myself, but all those times, I end up failing, time and again. As little as it is that I had, it wasn't easy to set out, leave it all behind and pretend like it all never happened.I sat at the border for well over an hour, shedding tears. I felt rejected and abused. This was the second time in my life that I had to deal with Justin's behavior really quietly. Even though in both cases, I realized it was to help me, it still felt like a
