I tuck Noah into his bed and settle beside him.He yawns, turning to face me.“Mummy, when can I join you for movie night?” he asks, his eyes full of hope.“Friday or Saturday, sweetheart,” I say, brushing his dark curls away from his forehead. He nods. “Okay, Mummy. Goodnight.”“Goodnight, honey.” I lean in to kiss his forehead, then stay beside him for a while, watching a bit of TV with the volume low until I’m sure he’s asleep. Then I slip quietly out of his room, leaving the door slightly ajar.I walk toward Amanda’s room and knock softly.“Please come in, boss,” she calls out.I smirk -better to knock before I walk in on things I’m not supposed to see, I think to myself, laughing quietly. Inside, they’re snuggled in each other’s arms watching a movie. Amanda tries to sit up, but I wave her down.“No, stay. I’m going downstairs. Please keep an ear out for Noah,” I tell them as I turn to leave.“Will do, boss,” Gabe answers. Amanda starts giggling he’s probably tickling her.
