Chapter 42 Jax's pov. I woke up in the middle of the night, gasping softly as if I had been underwater for too long. My eyes open to the familiar ceiling of my room, yet something in me feels displaced. My body was heavy, stiff and when I tried to move, a sharp ache ran through my spine as if I had been lying inside the same position for a long time for ages. The last thing I remember was sitting with the elders after our last peace making meeting, arguments rising, voices clashing, Raven’s name lingering painful in the air. I remember speaking, defending, thinking and then nothing blackness. I pushed myself up gently, looking confused about how I ended up here on the bed. I swung my leg off the bed and looked around. Everything in the room looked untouched, except for the faint smell of herbs lingering in the air. My heartbeat quickened, something wasn't right.
