CHAPTER 3CELESTEThe door bursts open.“Celeste!”Two staff members rush in, faces flushed. They stop dead at the sight of me—hair a mess, lipstick smeared, dress half-zipped. Their eyes flick to Adrian leaning against the wall, shirt wrinkled, hair mussed, chest still rising too fast.Silence.“Fix her,” Adrian says, voice sharp. They scramble. One drags me into the chair, fumbling for powder and lip gloss. The other sprays perfume over me, heavy, too sweet, trying to mask what we both know clings to my skin. Their hands tremble as they pat my face.I bite back a laugh. They’re suspicious. They’re dying to whisper about why my thighs are pressed so tight together, why my lipstick is gone, why Adrian looks like he just dragged me through hell. But they don’t dare.Adrian’s eyes are on them, cold, cutting. One girl giggles nervously—until she meets his gaze. She chokes on the sound, coughing into her brush.I smirk, watching my reflection in the mirror. Glitter, gloss, perfect again.
