Lahat ng Kabanata ng Ex-husband, You Broke The Wrong Woman : Kabanata 211 - Kabanata 220

[Elena]"He should be in the playroom," Asher said suddenly, his hand curling tightly by his side as he rushed toward the room.Of course.I nearly cursed myself for not checking earlier. He pushed the door open.I rushed past him."Darian?" I called.Nothing.The room was clean, toys arranged neatly. No mess. No signs of a child who’d been in here and playing. My stomach churned."There’s no way," I whispered."I’m sure he’s downstairs," Asher said quickly, forcing a small laugh that didn’t sound convincing at all. "He plays a lot, you know," he mumbled, rushing out of the room.Sweat broke out along my back.Asher rushed down the stairs and I followed, my steps uneven, my pulse hammering so loudly I could hear it in my ears.He stopped so suddenly at the foot of the stairs that I nearly ran into his back. The same woman I had seen earlier stood in the living room, the vacuum still humming weakly beside her, its cord trailing across the floor.Asher’s fingers curled into fists."How

[Vienna]The moment I sent the last message, a smile curled up my lips. Not the quiet type. The ones that meant I've gotten exactly what I wanted. That kind of smile when you can see clearly that the ball is right in my court.I know Elena was at that house when I sent that message. And I know she just drove out not too long ago.You want to know why?Because I have more spies than Asher can ever imagine in that house.Remember, I employed almost all of them, which means I have all their information.I just had to threaten the ones I needed, knowing they would immediately dance to my tune."Ma, please you can't hurt her. She's my only sister...she did nothing wrong." Imelda, Darian's nanny, sobbed from where she was kneeling, staring at her little sister, who was tied up, her head slumped forward. Unconscious.Of course, I had to go overboard for them to do what I want. The way they are answerable to me is the same way they are to Asher. So I knew that if I wanted them to disrespect A

[Asher]I failed Elena again.I failed Darian again. If I couldn’t protect my own son under my own roof, then what exactly was I good for? What exactly? Was I even fit to call myself a father or even a Langston anymore? My name carried weight. It carried fear. People trembled at the mention of it.But what was the point of a name like that if I kept failing the people I should be protecting?Knowing I couldn’t even do the bare minimum—protect my son—made my chest ache with something close to disgust.I saw the signs.I saw them, and I ignored them.I noticed something was wrong when Imelda was acting strange outside Darian’s room. I felt it in my gut, that quiet warning I had learned never to ignore. And yet, I ignored it.I fucking ignored it—even when Elena warned me. Even when she told me Vienna was capable of anything. Even when she said Vienna could use the staff to get to Darian. And now here we are.Exactly what Elena had warned me about. "I can’t track any of the numbers, dud

[Elena]I stared at the screen, my heart thumping so loudly in my chest it felt like it would shatter the next second. I swallowed hard, my shaking hands hovering over the screen as I swiped through the message.Unknown number: I know you want your son, and of course, you’ll get him—but on one condition. You’re coming here yourself. And listen, don’t even fucking think of involving anyone. I want us to sort out our differences. I do owe you an apology, I know, and I just want to make things right.Every part of my body went still as I stared at the message over and over again. My eyes lifted toward Raphael, who was still staring at Asher. Whatever they were saying faded into the background as my gaze stayed glued to him.Raphael was right. He knew. He knew that what Vienna wanted was just to lure me out—and now she had done exactly that.I swallowed hard, my lips pressing tightly together as I stared back at the screen."Vienna just sent me another message," I said, my voice ringing o

[Elena]My heart was thumping violently in my chest as I stared around the empty space Vienna had claimed was where we were supposed to meet.Nothing.Just silence. Open land. Too much space.Every instinct inside me screamed that something was wrong. She said this was the exact place. So what exactly was she talking about? Why was she sending someone to pick me up? Where exactly were they taking me to?I swallowed hard, my fingers curling tightly around each other, knuckles whitening as I tried to steady myself.I forced myself to take a slow, measured breath, suppressing the sudden urge to turn around—to scan the area again, to reassure myself that Raphael had kept his word.Of course, he would. He wouldn’t leave me here alone. Not with Vienna. Not knowing how unhinged she was.Raphael had assured me to go ahead and leave everything to them.I didn’t know what exactly they were planning, but I knew one thing for certain—there was a tracker embedded in the sole of my heels. The thoug
