ELOISE The inside of the Maybach was alarmingly quiet. I pressed Abraham’s silk handkerchief against my face, the scent of sandalwood and cold rain acting as a sharp contrast to the metallic tang of my own fear. Suddenly , his phone rang, breaking the nerve wrecking silence. He pulled out his phone from his pocket, his expression shifted from stony indifference to something almost human. Who called? I wondered. "Hey, buddy," he said, his voice dropped lower. "Dad! Are you there? Turn on the camera!" Leo's voice erupted through the speakers, breathless and high-pitched with pure, unadulterated energy. Ah, so it's his son. Instinctively, I tried to shrink into the leather upholstery, but at that moment I felt that the car was too small to hide in. "I'm here, Leo.
