Lahat ng Kabanata ng Reborn For Vengance: Kabanata 41 - Kabanata 50

For days, Donton locked himself in the library, reading book after book, scroll after scroll, searching for any record of the prince’s ailment. The Master of the Library, whom he had confided in, joined the search. But a week passed with no answers. “Nothing,” the Master said at last, slamming a book shut in frustration. “I have searched every scroll in this library. This has never been seen in the history of our kingdom.” Donton exhaled heavily. He had barely slept, leaving the library only twice, for Queen Boda’s funeral and to welcome Corpa’s new bride. “I fear you are right,” he said. “This case is unique. But we must find something. The child’s life depends on it.” “Perhaps the king should let him die,” the Master said quietly. “It would be a mercy afterall, given his condition." “The child’s life has barely begun,” Donton replied sharply. “Only the Goddess decides when it ends.” “But—” “Until she does, we must keep him alive,” Donton said, cutting him off. The Master inc

Toby was packing his working tools when he heard Anna’s frightened shriek. He jumped instinctively, then relaxed. From experience he guessed she was probably overreacting to something Seraphina had done. “You are trying to give me a heart attack!” He heard her anguished and exasperated voice. Now what? He thought walking towards the big room. Anna was standing beside the large oak table in the corner of the room, holding a giggling Seraphina. “What’s going on? I heard you shout.” Toby said. Anna turned the angry frown she’d been directing at Seraphina on him. “Your daughter is trying to send me to meet the Goddess, or turn me to a rouge! I came in and met her sitting in the middle of this table.” “How did she get up there?” Toby asked surprised, staring at the still smiling Seraphina. “I don’t know how she gets to these places! First, she scales the wall at the back, then last week she was perched on the lower branch of a tree! If she keeps this up, I may not live to se

There was a gentle knock on Jerry’s chamber door, so soft that if would have gone unheardif he hadn’t been listening for it. But to Jerry, it sounded as loud as the gong used to warn the kingdom of enemy invasion. He has been expecting the knock all morning. But still, he wasn’t ready for it. “Come in.” He said heavily. An old man with silver white hair walked in. He closed the door softly and bowed, but didn’t come nearer. “You have it?” Jerry asked nervously, his eyes fixed on the object in the man’s hands, covered with a black cloth. “Yes Alpha. I went to get it the minute Beta Frank relayed your command." The old man walked forward carefully and gently placed the object on the small wooden table in the center of the room then slowly removed the cloth to reveal a metal box. Jerry held his breath as he opened the box. The interior was padded with dark cloth, and resting within it was the Fang of the Moon, a long silver fang whose surface shimmered like moonlight. It was sa

The sun hadn’t risen when Donton left his quarters on the east side of the palace courtyard. As usual for Zombie kingdom the the weather was pleasant, neither hot or cold, sunny or dark. Citizens said it mirrored the temperament of Mortava. As he walked slowly through courtyard guards greeted him respectfully. As the High Adviser to the king Copra, the first sovereign of the dead, he had the power to make or break any citizen but he was just and fair, and tried to make sure the king was too. A hard thing to do considering how stubborn, arrogant, and headstrong the king was. But Donton was the oldest zombie in the kingdom and sometimes even the king had to listen. He entered the castle, knowing little prince Roydo was already up, sitting patiently by his window to watch the sun rise. He smiled remembering the boy and made a mental note to bring him some more history books from the library. His smile disappeared as he walked down the long corridor and descended to the art crypt, wh

Reyna was supervising Hira’s magic lessons when Lara burst into the solar, red with anger. “What’s this I’m hearing? Why is Hane being made regent while you are away?” Lara demanded. “Hello sister, how are you this afternoon?” Reyna asked calmly. “I demand any answer!” “I appointed him.” “Why?” “Because he is a member of council and by law the ruler may appoint any council member to sit in for them while they are away.” “I am a member of council too! Why wasn’t I chosen?” Reyna glanced at the teacher, who had been watching to the sisters exchange uneasily. “Will you please excuse us Holly?” She asked. “Get out! Do you have to be told?” Lara barked. The teacher ignored Lara, bowed to Reyna and left with Hira.“You wanted to know why you weren’t chosen?” Reyna asked, “This is why! Look at the way you spoke to Holly just now, how you speak to everyone, how you behave. The people have no affection for you. I’ve told you many times, you can’t win love through fear, it may comma
