Dante Romano Issa jerks, squirming against the headboard. Her blouse rides up just above her belly button. Her skin flushes. “You’re trembling already, and I’ve barely touched you.” I mutter, drinking her in. Her hair’s a mess over her shoulder. Her cheeks are pink. Her chest is rising and falling fast. I lean over her, one hand on the bed beside her hip, the other brushing a stray strand of hair from her face. I grab her chin roughly, making her look at me. “I’m going to drag this out….” My thumb presses harshly against her bottom lip. “Until you beg me properly.” “I-I’m sorry.” Her voice is barely there but her pulse hammers beneath her skin. I can feel her heat, her indecision. I trail the back of my fingers along her jaw, down her throat. She trembles. Her thighs shift. Her breath hitches again—and God, that sound is mine. My lips skim the line of her neck, down to her collarbone. Her head falls back against the headboard with a soft thud. She’s fighting the urge as s

Annalissa Hale Shame coats my skin immediately the door slams shut. What the hell just happened? I told him to punish me. I knew he had the ability to kill Ronan then and there at that restaurant and I told him to take me instead. I let him touch me. I let myself get lost in the intoxicating feel of his hands on my body. God. I squeeze my eyes shut, but it doesn’t help—his mouth is still on me. I can still feel the scrape of his teeth on my nipples, the heat of his breath against my neck, the sharp, sinful roll of his voice in my ear. “Beg louder…” Stop. I press my fingers to my temples. Just stop thinking about it. But my body doesn’t listen. It’s humming. Aching. My thighs are pressed together, and still, I feel that steady throb between my legs. Wet and needy. I push off the door and pace towards the bathroom. My legs feel like jelly, like they can’t remember how to hold me up without shaking. I strip out of my clothes and step into the shower. The shower mirr

Annalissa Hale Dante only returns the morning of the following day. But he’s not alone. His aunt, mother, sister and Kayleigh are with him. Apparently, one of his cousins is getting married and they’re contemplating whether to hold the wedding in Venice or not. So they’re trying to run it by their Don first. I just don’t understand why Kayleigh gets a say. She’s not even family. I tiptoe out of the room and glance down at them, trying to eavesdrop but I’m unable to. All I can see is Dante’s infuriatingly calm smile. Why is he even smiling when I still can’t stop thinking about how he unnerved me last night? How I’d got myself off to the image of him. Even moaned out his name. That was by far the most embarrassing yet satisfying moment of my life. And it’s because of him. Even my nerves are on fire right now because I’m wearing a stupid thick boat neck top. It’s suffocating the air out of my lungs. And it’s all his fault too. For leaving hickeys on parts of my body where e

Dante Romano I don’t like the way Issa flinches. It unsettles me in ways I don’t want to admit. When she hurts and it’s not from my hand, it grates at me. It makes something raw and dangerous coil in my chest. “Sit still,” I murmur, my thumb brushing her wrist as I finish wrapping the bandage. I glance up. She’s in a boatneck top today. Clever little thing. Trying to hide my marks. A smirk ghosts over my lips. She’s still trembling from last night. She thinks a high collar will disguise what I’ve done to her, but I know. I can picture every bruise, every bite, every sound that fell from her beautiful mouth when she shattered under my touch. God, she was beautiful like that. Wrecked, desperate and mine. But I held back. I always do. A Don doesn’t go back on his word, and I promised her I wouldn’t fuck her unless she begged for it. She will. Eventually. But on my terms. I straighten, turning away from her and to the room at large. My mask slips neatly back into place. Ca

Annalissa HaleThe hum of the private jet should be soothing, but all it does is drag me back to Dante’s words from a few days ago. “You’re mine. Nothing more than something I own.”They keep echoing in my skull with every vibration of the cabin. His words had cut deeper than I would like to admit. Maybe because after hearing about Victoria, I’d hoped for a second that what if he wasn’t as ruthless as he portrayed himself to be? What if he’d only let his walls up because he lost someone precious to him?But Dante had been quick to shatter that illusion for me, making me realize I was stupid to ever think like that.I keep my eyes fixed on the clouds outside the window, refusing to glance at Dante who’s sitting just a few feet away. I can feel his gaze on me even when I won’t look at him. He’s been extra edgy for the last few days, coming home once I’m asleep and leaving before I wake up. What if he’s mad about something? Or did he find out Ornella told me about Victoria? No,

Annalissa Hale “It’s good to finally meet you, Mrs. Romano,” he says smoothly, leaning back in his seat.I shift closer to the window, trying to create some kind of space between us. “Nice to meet you too.”“Dominic Caruso,” he introduces himself. “Enzo’s closest friend. Best man.”I don’t respond.“You’re even more ravishing in person,” he adds, eyes raking over me like he’s appraising an art piece.“Thanks,” I murmur, staring out at the blurred streets of Venice.“Ever been to Italy before?”“No.”He tilts his head. “One would think the Don’s wife would be more… extroverted. The world at her feet.”“Well, I’m not.”His mouth curves slowly. “That’s great.” He pauses, studying me. “Can I call you Issa?”I turn to him, scanning him from head to toe. There’s a knowing glint in his eyes and a sly smirk in his lips.“You can call me whatever you want,” I say flatly.I lean forward, asking the driver where we’re headed.“The Romano Palace, Signora.”I’ve heard a lot about the infa

Dante Romano The waves crash against the rocks below, spraying mist into the night air. The car is parked at the edge of the dock with headlights cutting through the night darkness. My grandfather sits inside, cane leaning against the door. His eyes are half-lidded but watching everything. He never misses a detail. The man kneeling before me reeks of sweat and fear. His palms are flat on the gravel with his forehead pressed to the ground. He’s trembling so hard I can hear his teeth click together. “Please, Don Romano. I didn’t mean…” I cut him off with a sharp flick of my wrist. “You trespassed.” My voice is cold steel. “And I don’t like repeating myself.” He stammers something else, but I’m not listening anymore. I pull my gun from the holster, cock it, and aim low. His eyes widen just before the shot cracks through the air. The bullet tears into his thigh. His scream echoes against the water. I don’t bother looking back. I tuck the gun away, pivot cleanly on my heel, and

Annalissa HaleAfter taking a shower, I go through the clothes in the closet of the bedroom. I find a silk black nightdress and throw it on. It’s a diaphanous, blank nightdress with a small inner gown beneath. The fabric of the gown is thin and short, stopping mid thigh. I wear a flowing jacket on it.I glance at my reflection in the mirror and smile. I do look like a queen from the old times. Except, it’s a little tempting with my legs on full display and my nipples peaking through the fabric. Will Dante notice enough to actually not ignore me anymore?I pinch myself hard. What is wrong with me? I cannot be desperate enough to try to seduce him just because he’s been treating me like I’m invisible. I hear footsteps from the corridor. My pulse hammers. Is he back?I sit at the edge of the bed and wait. The footsteps halt. I frown, then walk to the door and place my ear on it. I can barely hear anything. I take a deep breath, open the door and step between the threshold. All blood

Annalissa Hale My pulse stutters. “Dante, it’s not…”Dominic cuts me off with that lazy grin of his, stepping back like he’s the most innocent man in Venice. “Relax, Don. I’ll leave you two lovebirds to it.”He saunters off across the drive. But Dante doesn’t go after him. That’s what rattles me most. He’s never this calm when someone even breathes wrong in his presence. So why is he just…standing there? His gaze pins me. “You really are desperate, aren’t you?” His voice is calm. “Pathetic. A single scrap of attention and you’re wagging your tail for it.”The words stabs me more than any threat he’s ever hissed at me. My throat burns.“I wasn’t…” My voice cracks. I force myself to meet his eyes. “You think I’m so pathetic that I’d just throw myself at someone because you’ve been ignoring me?”His silence is worse than shouting. He just stares at me like I’m nothing, like I’m not even worth his anger.I clench my fists beside me.“Go to hell, Dante Romano.”I brush past him, my h

Dante Romano The bass from the speakers rattles through the floor of the club, but I barely hear it. Men shout, laugh, slap backs, drown themselves in liquor. Strippers in sequins dance like their lives depend on it. I sit in the corner with a glass of whiskey, watching the amber swirl against the rim. My cousins are already half gone, Enzo leading a chorus of drunken chants. This is supposed to be celebration. To me, it feels like noise. A presence slips into the empty seat beside me. Dominic. “The Don isn’t having fun?” he drawls, tipping his beer toward me. My jaw tightens. I recall the afternoon. His hand brushing Issa’s mouth, her flustered face, the molten urge in my fists to smash his grin into the concrete. I held back. Not for his sake but for my control. Kayleigh would’ve eaten it alive if I’d snapped. She would’ve taken it as Issa meaning something. And blood on the weekend of my cousin’s wedding? That would’ve been weakness. But Issa’s fire when she pushed ba
