The morning came slowly. I woke up to the sound of Devon’s steady breathing beside me. His arm was heavy across my waist, holding me like even in his sleep he refused to let me go. For a moment I just lay there, staring at his face. He looked younger when he slept, almost peaceful, and I smiled without meaning to. I stretched a little and that was enough to wake him. He leaned closer and kissed me lazily, like he had no intention of letting me get up any time soon.
