It looks like a murder scene. There’s dried blood spread across the white sheets, across her face, neck, on her breasts…But besides the victim being perfectly fine, she’s radiating happiness.I take a quick shower, brush my teeth, put one of his shirts on again — it falls to the middle of my thighs — and run downstairs. My breathing is ragged, my hands trembling.A smile carries through my whole body when I open the doors to the game room. Please, please, be here. And he is.Cael is already watching me when I enter the room, as if he felt my presence before I even appeared. My chest spikes. The gray of his eyes is lighter, almost blue — and God, I think I´m really in love with this man, because I can’t think straight when he’s near. But the instant he stares at me, any softness disappears. His expression hardens.— Is that how you plan to have your first self-defense lesson? — Samiel’s voice cuts through my moment. He and Eryon are leaning on the pool table, but only Eryon seems to c

— Let me out of here! — I shout, pounding on the doors of Cael’s apartment. It’s been over twenty-four hours since they locked me in here. Alone. And I’ve spent at least five of them beating on these damned doors.Eryon brings my meals in silence but never says a word. I don’t know where Cael or Samiel are, and every minute of waiting only fuels the urge to tear this place apart.— You can’t keep me locked up like this! — I kick the door, my head throbbing as if it’s about to explode.Suddenly, the doors swing open with such force I almost fall backward.— You’re starting to piss me off, girl. — Samiel steps into the room, his expression feral. The air seems to shrink, crushed under the weight of his presence. — And you really don’t want to see me angry. My heart jumps, but I don’t back down. I lift my chin, forcing a courage that definitely isn’t natural for me.— I know it’s against the rules to keep me locked here.He folds his arms, his smile cold.— Yeah? And what are you gonna d

I head downstairs just as Eryon is moving box after box of liquor from Nox’s storage to the club’s bars.He carries two at a time, as if they’re empty. Zara keeps herself entertained, counting bottles and reading the ingredients on the colorful drinks. Today is one of the only two nights a week when the club stays closed, and the place feels calm in a strange, almost unsettling way.She pops open a bottle of wine from behind the bar, plugs her phone into the cable on the stage, and suddenly a heavy beat explodes from the speakers. The lights go out, the colored globes start spinning, and the whole club belongs to the three of us.— I didn’t finish my work, Slovenia — Eryon says when she grabs his hand and pulls him to the middle of the dance floor. The two of them dance close, smiling with that playful intimacy — nothing more than friends with benefits. And still, watching them together feels… comforting. A simple joy spreads through me, warming my chest for something so small: we’re

I stare at the three liquor invoices on the table. I should enter them into the system, but what's the point if all the bookkeeping here is fabricated? Another night with Nox closed. Another night alone. The snap of breaking glass on the first floor slices through my boredom. I jump from my chair, heart spiking. I should be alone here. The security system should have gone off.Another sound. Louder. Metallic. The back door.— Alexia! — a muffled male voice yells from downstairs.— It’ll be quicker if you give yourself up! — another adds.Someone’s looking for me downstairs.I freeze for a second. My only option is up.I run down the hall, but before I reach the stairs, a violent tug on my hair steals my breath. I scream until gloved hands clamp over my mouth. They lift me like a doll and press me hard against the chest of a huge man dressed all in black. Then another one like him appears. I can’t see their faces, only their eyes behind masks cut from thick fabric. But one detail scar

The mat is cold under my bare feet. The whole place smells like rubber and sweat, and it’s way darker than any training room should be. Samiel stands in front of me wearing provocation, black sweatpants and a gray fitted tee.— You must’ve been beaten up a lot as a kid — he says with that teasing smile — I’ve never seen anyone this uncoordinated.I was beaten up, but that idiot doesn’t need to know he’s right.I clench my fists and move forward. Samiel dodges easily, catches my arm, and spins me around until my back hits his chest. Before I even understand what happened, I’m trapped against him, no room left to breathe.— First lesson: never attack without thinking. — His whisper brushes my ear, his mouth too close to be innocent.By instinct, I stomp on his foot and slam my elbow backward, hitting his stomach — which already feels completely healed. He lets out a short laugh and steps back half a pace.— A little more force and I would’ve taken you down — I say, proud of myself. His
