**Lara's POV** I ended the call and let the burner phone fall onto the bedspread. My voice, disguised through the scrambler, still echoed in my head—sharp, cold, and unrecognizable even to me. "Five million dollars," I whispered to myself, my lips curving into a grim smile. “That should keep him awake all night.” Derek's reflection moved in the mirror across from me, calm where I was trembling with adrenaline. He leaned against the dresser, arms folded, eyes dark with pride. "You were flawless," he said. "Not a trace of hesitation. He'll be clawing at his walls, trying to figure out who came for him." I straightened, pulling the silk robe tighter around my waist. "Good. Let him panic. Let him feel the same helplessness I felt when he ruined everything I loved."
