Chapter 1.MARRIAGE. —— ♣ —— ROME, ITALY. THE RED DEVIL'S CLAN. Being neglected was fine. Dying from a tumor was manageable. Having only three months to live…she'd come to terms with that. Running away from home at a young age was survivable. Having a family who never gave a damn? Well, that was expected. But being kidnapped by her own father? That. Was. Not. Fine. Not. One. Bit. Because Salvatore Romano only cared about himself, and being summoned at the Romano's empire only brought nothing but bad news. Very very bad news. Now, they'd removed the blindfold while she sat in his office, forced to listen to whatever speech they had prepared for her. Her father sat right in front of her, dressed in his Armani suit. While the two other guys she had hoped not to meet, stood by the far end of the wall. “I would have explained why you're here, but I'm sure you already know. Considering

Chapter 2. ALLIANCE. —— ♣ —— PALERMO, ITALY. DE ANGELIS PENTHOUSE. A man's screams echoed off the cold concrete walls of the dark basement. A single bulb swung above, casting flickering shadows over bloodstained tiles. Chains rattled, a sharp metallic scent of iron filled the room, mixing with sweat, fear and death. And the man behind all of this? He sat in the dark, elbows resting on the armrests of a leather chair that looked more like a throne than a piece of furniture. Only the glow of the bulb behind him cut through the shadows, revealing his silver coloured hair. The dark angel.Angelo De Angelis. A man knelt before him, trembling and bleeding. Whispering prayers in a language he didn't care to understand. Finally he stood and walked forward, each step deliberate, echoing like judgement. Then he paused, gloved hands tucked behind his back and black coat brushing his boots. C

Chapter 3. THE BRIDE IN RED.—— ♣ —— Two days had passed quickly. And no matter how hard she'd tried to escape it, she was getting married today. It was her reality. The silk of the gown clung to Millicent's body like a second skin. She was covered in the Red Devils traditional bridal colour. Blood red and gold that shone under the chandelier light. Millicent looked at her dress, red for power and gold for legacy. It was the traditional bridal dress of their empire. Even at her own wedding, she was just another possession of the Red Devils. How pathetic. As she gazed at her reflection, memories of her childhood flooded her mind. She remembered being little, and always wanting to please her father. Always wanting to make herself worthy, to prove she was worthy, just like her step brothers. She would spend countless of hours studying the Red Devils tradition, desperately wanting to know more about the mafia as a child, even though

Chapter 4. MRS. DE ANGELIS.—— ♣ ——The air felt light as the music shifted to a romantic one. The guests stood as the doors opened, and Millicent began her walk down the aisle in the company of her father. Most people usually had butterflies on the day of their wedding, but all she had was dread. She felt like a sacrificial lamb being brought to the altar. The monster beside her was going to hand her over to the devil, the dark angel. Perhaps her reluctance was heavily expressed on her face, because beside her, her father whispered. “Smile. Or I'll have Luca's kidney served to you on a plate by sunset.”Her jaw tensed. “You had better not forget, the moment I say the vows, he'll get released. That was the deal.” But instead of reassuring her, Salvatore chuckled. “Deals evolve, figlia mia.” Millicent froze, wide eyed.“Pull yourself together and smile, Millicent,” he whispered as he tightened

Chapter 5. KARMA'S SON.——♣—— Millicent left the courtyard and sat curled in a corner of the estate, trembling like a leaf. After Angelo's venom threatening words, she had fled the moment she snapped their photo. Yes, she knew he had changed. But the hate in those blue eyes, the anger, the pain… it was far more than she had ever anticipated. Ever. “God, help me out of this pit,” she whispered through clenched teeth, her voice laced with dread. Just as she looked around, she wasn't sure if she could even stay in the Estate anymore. All she wanted to do was get out. She wanted to run back to her cozy little apartment in Rome. Wanted to escape this suffocating place. She had always anticipated the day of her wedding, hoped it would be her own day of joy. But… upon realizing she had 3 months left to live, well… she had managed to let go of the idea. And now that she finally had it, she…didn't …want it.

Chapter 6. THE WEDDING NIGHT 1. ——♣—— As they moved in sync with the soft rhythm of the music, Angelo’s gaze swept over her. Truth be told, he hadn’t really taken a proper look at her until now. During the vows, he’d been too stunned to process anything. But here, in the quiet intimacy of the dance, he finally saw her… really saw her. And by the heavens, she was even more beautiful than he remembered. The dress clung to her skin like a second layer, hugging every curve shamelessly. Scarlet red, seductive and bold, it made her look like a goddess of temptation. Like a seductress, a temptress. And the golden highlights on the dress shimmered against the fabric, catching the light as they danced, and blending effortlessly with her golden-blonde hair.Millicent Romano. Yes, she was stunning. Breathtaking, even. But beneath the elegance and glittering jewels, Angelo knew what truly lurked beneath the surfac

New home.

CHAPTER 7NEW HOME.———♠——— They say weddings are usually the longest memorable day in ones life, but for Millicent, it was all in a blur. The last thing she had remembered after panicking about it, was leaving hours later and drinking bottles of alcohol to wash her sorrows which evidently seemed to have followed her till the next day. Luckily for her, she didn't set eyes on Angelo after the dance. The driver had brought her to the estate while the Butler showed her the room she'd stay in. The same room she was currently waking up into with a banging headache and severe hangover. “Ahh,” she hissed, groaning slightly at the throbbing pain in her head while she blinked against the brightness of the morning sunlight that bathed the master bedroom. Still groaning, she turned her head toward the other side of the bed, wanting to ease the pain away, but rather she was met with a perfectly uncreased edge of the bed. And that seemed to take her mind off the pain for a brief moment as

Chapter 8.NEW HOME, NEW RULES.——♣—— Angelo hadn't slept, not even close. Not because his brothers had followed him home after the wedding and annoyed him through the night, but because of the woman downstairs. How could he sleep when she was sleeping soundly in his bed. Even the thought of it irritated him more than it should. So instead of sleeping, he had spent the entire night exactly where he should've.In the darkness of his office. His private office on the upper level of the estate was a room that most people in the building didn't even know existed. One that held nothing but peace and quiet, the kind that a man like him needed after getting married.Millicent Romano.“No,” he shook his head. Millicent De Angelis. His jaw tightened at the thought as he diverted his gaze back to the tablet in front of him. Once his ex lover and now she's right under his roof. He couldn't pin it but something about her made him feel cautious. Not just because of their shared past but

Chapter 9.FEELING WATCHED.——♣——“Stronzo,” Millicent cussed underneath her breath, watching Angelo's figure fade into the distance. “It's not surprising that he'd come and arrogantly drop some rules but he could at least pretend to be nice,” she rolled her eyes, rising from the chair. “It's not like I asked to be stuck with him.” she muttered as she left the terrace. While moving, she threw a couple of cuss words upon remembering all he said. She had simply put on a meek face as a facade but if Angelo thought she would stay put and obey then he had much to learn. “Now, where should I begin,” she smirked as she approached the east wing, gently moving with caution so as not to arouse any suspicion. She was just settling in, that was all.Just a new bride familiarizing herself with her new home. She kept her steps unhurried and her hands clasped loosely in front of her as she drifted from one corridor to the next. Pausing at an intersection of two long hallways, she gla

Chapter 10.——♣—— Millicent spent hours in the library long enough to make her believe she fell asleep. Because by the time she opened her eyes, it was dark and the book had somehow made its way to the ground. It had to be the drugs, no doubt. Immediately, she left the library for the kitchen, hoping to get a drink. But as she approached the stairs, she smelled food even before she could locate the source. The scent filled the east corridor and Millicent followed it with, partly because her stomach had been running on tea since morning. The scent stopped at the kitchen, and Millicent pushed the door open. It was the De Angelis brothers. Ariel was standing in an apron while he stirred something in the pan with concentration. Beside him, the one whom she recognized as Aurelio stood chopping vegetables like it was a military operation. She had completely forgotten about Angelo brothers who appeared to have followed him straight from the wedding. It was no wonder she hadn't se
