Solara’s pov“I’ll walk you.” Damon said as we stopped in front of my house. He came out of the car first and turned around to open up the door for me. “Thank you.” I said with a smile. We enjoyed the evening air, and we got to the door faster than I wanted us to. I had to come back home, since I have some things I would like to get here before going back to campus tomorrow. We stood there for a moment longer than necessary, right at the entrance of my house, the night hovering around us like it didn’t want to interrupt. The porch light cast a soft circle over the concrete, catching the edge of Damon’s structure, the quiet rise and fall of his breath. The world felt hushed—no cars passing, no neighbors outside, just the faint sound of insects, and the distant hum of the city settling down for the night.Dinner still lingered in the air between us. Not the food itself, but the way it had felt—shared glances across the table, laughter that came easily, pauses that didn’t feel awkward.
