Dad stayed back. He asked us to have fun, claiming he had some things to take care of, which I knew was a lie. I didn't call him out on that, though. It seemed he wanted us to have the night, so he wouldn't feel like the third wheel. Dad had been doing this constantly since our engagement. He had stopped breathing down our necks anytime we were alone. Most times, he creates the opportunity for us.Jay didn't seem to mind that Dad wasn't running with us. He told me to leave him to whatever it was Dad was doing, so I did as asked. I followed him out of the house, through the back door and straight to the small forest. We heard howls all around us, probably those who also wanted to run during the full moon. We weren't the only ones who felt the pull from the moon.I wasn't concerned about meeting people on our run, as the forest we were going to was private property owned by Dad. No werewolf would dare trespass. Jay and I ran, with me mostly chasing him, cackling whenever he tripped and

We remained on the floor for a while before I felt his hand on me. He tugged me to himself and ran his fingers through my hair. “Where do you want our wedding to be? Is there any place you have in mind?" He asked suddenly, breaking through the comfortable silence.I cuddled up to him and placed my head on his chest, eyes closed. For a few seconds, I just inhaled his sweet scent, taking in as much as I could. “I want a private wedding,” I said at last, opening my eyes to look at him. He was already looking down, his pretty green eyes sparkling. I'd never seen it as bright as it was, and I knew it had to do with the moon shining down on us, a third party to our conversation.Who knows, the moon goddess was probably peering down from her throne next to it, watching us while eating popcorn. Did she have a great show? “Why? I thought you wanted an extravagant wedding with plenty of guests, press and —”“You make me sound like a spoiled princess.” I scrunched my nose up, even though he

Dad and Jay stared at me, arms folded. We had been sitting on the dining chair for almost 30 minutes after I showed them the text I got yesterday. None of them spoke, and the silence was getting to me, slowly. I didn't like how nervous their stares made me feel. Gulping, I tucked some strands of hair behind my right ear. “So… That's it,” I said at last, breaking the silence between us. One of us needed to do that, I figured I had to, if I wanted the conversation to either start or end. “Why didn't you tell us last night?” Jay asked. Finally! I'd even thought they had turned to statues. This wasn't the reaction I expected from them. I thought they would be all over me in concern, asking if I was okay, if the person tried anything funny with me. “I didn't want to spoil the mood last night. Besides…” I grabbed my phone off the table and slid it into my pocket. “Nothing happened last night, right? It might be a prank text for all we know.” “A prank text?!” Dad growled, eyes narrowed

JAYI stared at his phone almost all morning. I wouldn't lie and say I did something productive. I didn't. I was waiting for a text from the person who contacted Matt. Dad asked me to keep my attention on the phone and wait for a message, which I was doing, although it seemed like I was taking things a little too seriously by ignoring the piles on my table. When his phone dinged with a notification, I rushed to pick it up, thinking it was from the person with that threatening message, but it wasn't. It was just a spam email. Hissing under my breath, I stared into space. I had believed we were free from the past and wouldn't have to worry about it repeating anymore. Matt has finally moved on. That dullness in his eyes had disappeared. We couldn't afford to have that fool spoil everything for us. Which is why I need to solve this with Dad before it escalates. Dad said I shouldn't send a message to him and wait for him to contact Matt first, something I might disobey if I don't get a

Debra and I spoke until Dad returned to my office. We tried to narrow it down to the person who might have given Scott Matt's phone number, but we weren't successful. We couldn't think of anyone in our small circle who would be in contact with that bastard. It all boiled down to one way he could have gotten it. He must have taken Matt's contact from someone's phone or had someone track Matt down. The latter was plausible. If he had actually tracked Matt down, he wouldn't be asking where he was. He would have shown up instead of going back and forth, texting him. He must have taken the number from Richard's phone. Richard was the only one I knew who could be so careless with his phone. And to think he doesn't even lock that thing. He must have left it lying around in a bar and Scott happened to pick it up. Which would mean he had been tailing them.“You have to be careful, too. He might come for you if things go awry." “Don't worry about me. All I need is for you to promise to keep
