JULIUS ~The next day, the packhouse was already alive by the time I stepped out. There was activity everywhere, from the clang metal, to the laughter of pups. The men were sparring like they were preparing for war.“Easy,” I called out, my voice cutting through the noise. “You’re not supposed to kill each other during training.”They paused, panting, eyes wild. One of the young warriors, Hale, looked up at me, his chest heaving.“Sorry, Alpha,” he said, wiping sweat from his brow. “It’s… it’s the air. It feels strange today.”“The air?” ” I answered, stepping closer, my gaze sweeping over the group. A few others nodded, murmuring agreement, their shoulders tense like twisted coils.He nodded, glancing up at the sky. “Yes, Alpha. It smells like a storm’s coming. But there’s no storm. My wolf keeps pacing inside, sniffing at something I can’t place. And the scents, they’re sharper, too. Like everything’s amplified, but wrong.”I tilted my head back.
