Vanessa’s POVI never paid much attention to not fitting in with the pack; after all, my mother always assured me that one day I'd find my mate and leave. Whenever she catches me lost in thought, she reminds me of this, her words a comforting mantra in the face of rejection.I've never understood why they dislike me, but it's never bothered me much.Today marks my eighteenth birthday, and the Alpha and Luna have taken it upon themselves to celebrate in their grand mansion. As the pack gathers around, grinning and singing the birthday song, I watch from the sidelines, a silent observer amidst the joyful chaos. Some capture the moment with their phones, preserving the memory for posterity. I'm aware that most of them only tolerate me because I'm the Beta's daughter and have a good relationship with the Alpha's family. And let's not forget, Alfie, the Alpha's only son, and his twin sister, Amelia, are my best friends. It's almost as if they're compelled to befriend me too.Alfie and Amel

Vanessa’s POVSeeking solace in the familiarity of my parents' home, I bypassed the alpha's residence entirely. As the beta's daughter, it wasn't a difficult decision. After a quick shower, I slipped beneath the covers, seeking refuge in sleep.I'm not one to shed tears easily, but that doesn't mean I'm not heartbroken. The pain is tangible—my chest aches, my eyes sting, even my body feels tender with the weight of it all. Attempting to breathe, I find myself hyperventilating, the onslaught of emotions overwhelming me.Slowly, I lower myself to the floor, curling into a ball as I try to regain control of my breathing. Panic attacks are familiar territory for me, a constant companion in times of distress. Rejection from the pack I've called home my entire life cuts deeper than I'd care to admit.Feeling betrayed by my lifelong best friend only added to the anguish. Was our friendship merely a facade, a product of our parents' positions in the pack hierarchy? The thought is like a knife

Alpha Alexander’s POVThe chilly weather matched the somber mood as we gathered around my mate's grave, dressed in black attire for the funeral. Alfie and Amelia clung to each other, their grief palpable as tears streamed down their faces. Though she had been gone for two days already, today's ceremony seemed to weigh heavier on their hearts than ever before. As for me, I remained stoic, my gaze fixed on the ground below.Condolences and praises for my mate's character circulated among the mourners, but I found little solace in their sympathetic words. All I wanted was solitude, a moment to collect my thoughts away from the prying eyes and well-meaning words.Without a word, I turned and left the graveyard, the familiar comfort of my office calling to me like a beacon. I sought refuge in a glass of whiskey, needing its warmth to numb the ache in my heart.Speeding towards the Alpha house, I found solace in the solitude it promised. There, amidst the quiet emptiness, I could mourn in m

Vanessa’s POVReturning to the Blood Moon Pack after my father informed me of Frida's passing seemed like a misguided decision. Despite her illness, I had only reached out to her once, and her joy at hearing from me weighed heavily on my conscience. For two years, I had cut off all contact with everyone, including my parents. I needed that time to myself, away from the probing questions and judgment that would inevitably follow. I wasn't ready to confront the reasons for my sudden departure, nor did I want to explain the complexities of my relationship with Alfie.I hadn't even told my parents about Alfie being my mate and his subsequent rejection. It seemed pointless, only serving to disrupt the harmonious relationships they had with others in the pack. My father's close friendship with the Alpha only added to my reluctance to disclose the truth. The thought of my father potentially cutting Alfie out of his life because of our situation weighed heavily on me. I couldn't bear the idea

Vanessa’s POV"Please don't do this to me," I whisper to myself as the door clicks shut, locking me inside with no way out.Collapsed on the floor of Alpha Alexander’s study, I'm overwhelmed, my thoughts a whirlwind too rapid to grasp. It's all becoming too much for my mental health. I've strived to maintain focus, but it's slipping away.I fled this pack once before, seeking the peace it couldn't offer. I chased happiness, only to return and find myself ensnared in a bizarre twist of fate I never anticipated. Coming back to Blood Moon was supposed to be a brief visit, not a plunge into chaos.I have a long list of clients back in Canada, waiting for their tattoos. There's so much waiting for me at home. And I haven't fed my dog, though I left him with my neighbor to care for while I'm away. She's going to start worrying if I don't return soon.Hours stretch on, and no one enters the room. Humiliated, panicked, and utterly exhausted, I sit immobilized, my gaze fixed blankly on the opp

Alpha Alexander POVI quickly walked through the dimly lit corridor to my ensuite, a space I once shared with Frida. Since her death, I had locked it up, preserving the privacy of her belongings and the memories of our time together. It wasn’t about being haunted by the past; rather, I needed to seal away that chapter of my life, safeguarding the joyful moments we shared.Frida’s recent passing profoundly affected me, altering the person I was. Her absence marked a stark transformation, a change that felt like an evolution forced upon me by the harsh reality of her no longer being here. I should have foreseen the change, but I was comfortable with the life I had with Frida as my mate and the mother of my children. The version of me before wouldn't have lashed out at Vanessa or burdened her with guilt for her actions. Normally, I would have been the first to apologize for any misunderstandings during times I was inebriated.Yet, I find myself embodying a different aspect of my characte

Alpha Alexander’s POVVanessa remains on the floor, struggling to dress herself for over thirty minutes. The sight tugs at my conscience, stirring a mix of guilt and confusion within me. I'm lost in a maze of conflicting emotions, unsure of how to navigate this unfamiliar territory.Despite my uncertainty, one thing remains clear: Vanessa is now my mate, bound to me by fate's unyielding decree. It's a reality I can't escape, no matter how much I may wish otherwise. And in my misguided attempt to shield her from judgment and scrutiny, I've resorted to drastic measures. The decision to make her my maid weighs heavily on my shoulders, a choice driven by a desire to protect her from the prying eyes and whispered gossip of my children and the pack. I fear their judgment, their misunderstanding of a situation they may never fully comprehend. As I contemplate the implications of my actions, a sense of dread washes over me. How will I explain this to Alfie and Amelia, my own flesh and blood?

Vanessa’s POVI jumped as the door to the study swung open, instantly assaulted by a scent that sent my insides into a chaotic frenzy I couldn't control. Since arriving at this pack, my body seemed to have a mind of its own, betraying me at the most inconvenient times. I needed to rein it in before it embarrassed me any further. Why was my stomach suddenly tying itself in knots? His scent was enveloping and irresistible, a potent blend of sandalwood and the earthy essence of the woods he held dear. It was a fragrance that commanded attention, drawing in anyone with a discerning nose. It had a reputation for making females weak in the knees and discarding their inhibitions without a second thought. But why was I only now experiencing it so intensely, when I had been around him countless times before? What had changed to make his scent stand out above all others, even those of the many men I had encountered in the human world with their own distinct personalities? I had certainly met my

Vanessa’s POVFresh from my shower, enveloped in the lingering scent of Alpha Alexander, I wrap a fluffy white towel I discovered in one of the cabinets, seemingly untouched. Carrying my clothes, I return to the study, half-hoping it would be empty. Yet, to my surprise, Alpha Alexander stands there, next to his desk, a small black object in his hand swiftly concealed in the pocket of his sweatpants as he realizes my presence. Slowly turning, his face remains impassive, but his eyes roam up and down my form, eliciting an involuntary shiver.Damn it, the intensity of his gaze stirs a multitude of emotions within me, fostering a moment heavy with unspoken tension and curiosity. I despise the power he holds over me, yet I'm helpless to resist it. Why couldn't it be the other way around? Why doesn't he feel even a hint of attraction towards me when I'm consumed by it for him?Doesn't he feel the mating bond, or am I just imagining things? Maybe there's something wrong with me, seeing signs

Alpha Alexander’s POVI ensured Vanessa cleared her plate before glancing back to confront her defiant look. She's always had a streak of sassiness, but at seventeen, she withdrew into herself until she departed from the pack. Now, that spirited girl is resurfacing, and do I feel proud? Somewhat. Leaning against the window, I fold my arms, concealing my genuine interest to maintain distance. This facade is necessary for both of us; I must play the heartless figure she detests to make this work, or it'll all be futile. I can maintain this act for now, resuming my normal self behind closed doors.Resisting the impulse to question her clothing choice—especially with her parents imminent—was a challenge, the mere notion sparking an uncomfortable sensation. So, I diverted to my desk, settling into the executive chair.Becoming alpha of the Blood moon pack initially seemed a recipe for disaster, yet it's been anything but. With Frida as my steadfast companion, the leadership role feels surp
