The hiss crawled through the ruins like a living thing, rattling stone and bon alike. Aria froze, breath sharp in her throat. The mark on her arm flared, shadows dripping down her fingers like black ink, tuging her closer to Kael until her shoulder pressed into his chest. Kael's hand tightened on hers, his skin hot as a forge. His smile was sharp, savage-less comfort, more promise of violence.
