I could see Selene’s reaction out of the corner of my eye, her posture stiffening slightly, though she did her best to remain impassive. But I could sense her irritation, the faintest hint of jealousy simmering beneath her calm exterior. SELENE FROWN. I stood still, watching the two of them. I kept my expression as neutral as possible, though I could feel my stomach twist. This girl—clung to him like she belonged there, smiling as though she had every right to be wrapped around him. Lucifer actually smiled back at her, that same infuriatingly charming smile he’d flash at me from time to time. And he’d even called her "darling." Darling. I swallowed, fighting to keep the irritation from showing on my face. What was the meaning of this? And why did I even care? It’s not like I had any reason to feel this way. I wasn’t jealous; that would be ridiculous. I didn’t care about him like that… or at all, really. Right? Still, my chest tightened, and I felt something dangerously close to

Finally, I found my voice, though it was barely more than a whisper. “Yes,” I said, forcing myself to meet his gaze. “I want to be alone.” He let out a quiet chuckle, his hand falling away, though his eyes never left mine. “As you wish, Selene,” he said, his voice dripping with amusement. “But don’t think for a second that I’ll forget this little moment.” Without another word, he stepped back, allowing me to slip past him and out of the room. I could feel his gaze following me all the way to the door, a smirk undoubtedly playing at his lips, but I didn’t look back. As I made my way up the hall, my heart still racing, I couldn’t help but wonder which room is mine? Do I even have a room here? I leaned back against the wall, my arms folded as I watched Selene disappear down the hall. Every step she took away from me brought a wry smile to my face. She had no idea how much control she had over me, the way she stirred something unfamiliar yet impossible to ignore. I’d seen many souls c

“Please, just tell me." She took a step closer, her face filled with a stubborn determination that, oddly, suited her. “Could it be… sex?” Her eyes didn’t waver as she spoke. “If I sleep with you, will you let me be?” The corners of my mouth twitched, and I replied simply, "You belong to me." She huffed, frustrated, her gaze hardening. "You keep saying that." She stepped forward again, so close I could feel her steady, furious energy. "But do you love me? Do you have any feelings for me?" “Love?” I tilted my head, a slow, cynical smile crossing my lips. “Don’t you think that’s too much to ask?” I leaned in just slightly, enough to keep her attention. "The devil doesn’t love." She didn’t back down, her eyes narrowing as if I’d just confirmed something she already suspected. "What *do* you feel, then?" She moved even closer, her face tipped up defiantly. “Obsession? Possessiveness? Which one?” “That depends.” “On what?” The back-and-forth of this questioning was beginning to lose

As she crossed the floor and sat beside me, I felt my tension ease, though I couldn’t say why. There was an odd tranquility about her. “Will you marry him?” she asked, her voice soft, almost pleading. I was caught off guard, blinking in surprise as I tried to process her question. Her appearance was that of an eighteen-year-old, but her voice sounded like a child’s—innocent, yet tinged with an understanding beyond her age. I frowned, confused by her words. *Marry him?* The very idea seemed absurd, impossible even. But the look in her eyes was so sincere, so hopeful, that it made me hesitate. “Lucifer said you would be my mother,” she continued quietly, as if her statement held a weight I couldn’t yet understand. I stared at her, feeling my heart race. "Mother?" I repeated, my voice barely a whisper, laden with disbelief. “Are you… are you Lucifer’s child?” The question escaped me, almost involuntarily, and I immediately felt foolish. Was that even possible? She nodded, her express

As I tiptoed toward the bathroom, the plush carpet beneath my feet felt soft and welcoming. It was a little thing, but it felt like a luxury, and I savored it. In the bathroom, the faint scent of lavender hung in the air from the soaps neatly arranged on a glass shelf. I turned the water on and let it run for a moment, waiting for it to warm. The sound of it filling the room was soothing, echoing slightly against the tile. When I finally stepped in, the warmth wrapped around me, easing away the tension that had somehow settled in my shoulders. As I hummed softly under the shower, letting my mind wander, I made a silent promise to myself. Today, I was going to live – no holding back, no hesitation. I'd explore every inch of this mansion and truly experience it, the way I should’ve from the beginning. After I stepped out, I grabbed a fluffy white towel, drying off before slipping into a comfortable pair of blue jeans and a snug tank top. A glance over my shoulder revealed Anna, still

Then his gaze shifted, his piercing red eyes meeting mine, and he let the file drop casually onto the desk. A slow, knowing smile spread across his lips, and I knew instantly he was already plotting some sort of teasing remark. “Well, good morning,” he greeted, his voice low and warm. I exhaled, tilting my head slightly. “Lucifer.” “Ah, you say my name so sweetly, as if it’s the only thing on your mind,” he said, his smile widening just a little, the glasses adding a touch of sophistication to his already magnetic presence. He leaned back, crossing his arms as he continued to watch me with that smug amusement. “Trust me, it’s not,” I replied, crossing my arms in response, trying to maintain some distance between us — emotionally and physically. I knew better than to let his charm pull me in. He arched a brow, clearly unfazed by my response. “Hmm. And here I thought I’d be at the top of your list this morning. After all, you did come to my study, unannounced and unsupervised. I mu

“Very funny,” I said, feeling my cheeks flush again at his words. I crossed my arms, trying to mask the effect he was having on me. “I think I’ll take my chances on my own, thanks.” He let out a dramatic sigh, leaning back again, his hand over his heart. “Such cruelty, Selene. But I can handle it. After all, I’m devilishly resilient.” “That you are,” I muttered, trying not to smile. “I’ll give you that much.” He seemed pleased by my acknowledgment, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction. “See, I knew you were warming up to me.” I let out a huff. “I’m tolerating you, Lucifer. That’s all.” “Ah, but tolerance is the first step to appreciation,” he said, his tone smooth as silk. “And who knows? One day, you might find that you actually like having me around.” “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves,” I replied, giving him a pointed look. “Right now, I’m just trying to make it through the day without wanting

My heart skipped a beat. “You’re telling lies” “hmm.” He leaned closer, his face inches from mine, and I could feel his breath warm against my skin. “I don’t want to be without you. You are really Entertaining .” " That's not something you should say to someone, you wish to sleep with " I furrow my brows and he smile " Punish me then " his words were raw, with an intensity, I don't know I felt myself drawn in, unable to resist. His hand moved to the back of my neck, his fingers tangling gently in my hair. He was so close now that I could see every fleck of darkness in his eyes, every hint of lust in them. “Tell me to stop,” he whispered, his voice barely more than a breath, his lips so close that his words were almost a part of me. But I didn’t tell him to stop. I couldn’t. My heart was pounding too hard, my body already leaning in, surrendering to the inevitable pull that had always been th

“Wait here,” he told her softly, then turned his attention back to me. “Very well, Lucien. Let’s talk.” I led him down the hall, away from her, not stopping until we reached the small antechamber at the end. Closing the door behind us, I faced him, letting the silence stretch between us before speaking. “Have you thought this through?” I asked, careful to keep my tone respectful but firm. “What you’re doing with her… what are your intentions?” His expression hardened, the amusement fading from his eyes. “Are you questioning me, Lucien?” I held his gaze, the weight of his words pressing on me, but I couldn’t back down now. “I’m concerned, my lord. Selene… she doesn’t know the things you’re capable of. And she certainly doesn’t understand what you might intend to do with her.” Lucifer’s mouth curved into a smirk, though it held no humor. “You think you know what I intend, Lucien? Or do you believe you’re more a

Just then, a strange noise echoed from the far corner. I froze, my heart beginning to race as I listened, straining to make out what it was. The noise was soft at first, like a distant wail carried by a breeze, but it grew louder, transforming into a sound unmistakably human—a child’s cry. Each faint sob pulled at something deep inside me, urging me forward. Before I knew it, I was walking toward the sound, my body moving of its own accord. At the farthest corner, in a space shrouded in shadows, I saw her—a small figure curled up on the floor, shoulders trembling as she cried. Her dark hair spilled over her face, and she looked heartbreakingly small, lost in this vast room. I took a hesitant step closer, my voice soft, wary. “Are you okay?” She didn’t answer. Her cries continued, piercing, each sob rattling me, making my pulse race. Slowly, I moved closer, bending down to gently touch her shoulder. As my hand hovered over her, she suddenly lifted her he
