Darkness was still over the pack, the only thing helping them being the light that was from the streetlights and other artificial sources of light. And because the sun was a ball of nothing right now, that meant that it was also very cold. It was like it was nighttime all the time. And where Councilman Vance was, it was almost at the border. He was sitting in his car, the engine still alive as he tried to call the omega over and over. But after so many times, he had given up and had decided that he was just going to risk it and drive back into town to find the girl. Why? The truth was that he did not really know. What he did know was that he was being very stupid for wanting to do that, and that the old version of him would have never thought twice about this. Never. But now, he had grown so much as a person. He could literally just leave the town right now and disappear, saving himself, especially knowing that his colleagues had been brutally murdered. He could start another lif

Selena was still sitting on the bed, trying to wrap her head around what she had just listened to. Was it real? Was any of this real? Or was she in a nightmare being tortured by her own mind? If only it were that, she would have been so relieved. She would have been so relieved because she would have known that it was all not real. But it was. It was freaking real, and it was her life. She had just literally listened to the last words of her father before he was killed by Malek. At first, from the very beginning…she understood. She had understood Malek. But not anymore. He was not a good person. He had been hurt and wanted vengeance, but he was worse than the very same people who had brought pain to him. Nothing could excuse all the awful things that he had done. She had understood him. But now, all she wanted to do was to end him. All she wanted to do was to make him pay for all the things that he was doing. He deserved to die…to suffer. But of course, the one time that she had fi

Selena stared at the man’s hand for a few seconds, her heart squeezing in anger and in pain. She was disgusted by him. She knew that she should not stereotype omegas, but as far as she knew, every omega- even though they had all been treated like trash; nevertheless, they were all good people. Malek was not a good person. Yes, he had been hurt and traumatized, but that was no excuse for him. Everyone else in this town and around the world has been hurt as well. There were even people out there who had it worse than him. Yet, here he was, being the most evil person she had ever met. She was disgusted. And if she had her powers right now, she would have attacked him. She would put an end to all of this already and kill him. He deserved it. He had caused way too much loss in her life and in this pack. Selena felt regret in this very moment, because if she had stopped being so self-righteous from the very beginning… if she had accepted her role and stopped running away from her destiny

The ride to The Oracle was kind of weird. There was an awkward silence in the car, at least that was how it felt to the beta. He was by the door, and he was very aware of his surroundings. He did not want to end up like Cassie. He would rather die than end up like Cassie…to end up fighting for a villain that he hated. He was at the back of the car, and so was Malek. The guy was not far from him; he was on the other side of the window. The guy who was driving seemed to be in a way. It was like he was being mind-controlled, and at the same time, it did not seem that way. Or maybe Leon was just overthinking. He knew, as the beta to the Alpha, that taking someone ordinary to the Oracle was the wrong thing to do. He knew that the place was sacred ground and that it held spirits and the aura of so many great people before them. He knew that at that particular place, the spirit of the Moon goddess was evident. And he knew that he was going to be punished in some way for what he was doing

The end was now. Or so it seemed. The earth shook underneath, and it took only seconds for the ground to split open under them. The sky that was once dark was now filling with light as thunder echoed one more time. The darkness was fleeing, and it looked like the sun was getting back to normal. But Leon knew that it was not a good thing. Malek was not supposed to be the Alpha of the pack. A man who had killed Maddox’s mother and was responsible for so much more had no business ruling over the pack. But that was the reality that they were living in now. As they rushed away, the beta looked back once more, and he saw that the stone that was called the Oracle was bleeding as if it were a living thing. The whiteness had now completely been drenched by the redness of blood. Leon cursed as he turned his attention back to fleeing. He knew that he would be punished; there was no escaping that. But he had done it for the right reasons, and he was willing to accept whatever the spirits or th
