Chapter 1. Kicked Out

Selena’s POV Selena’s heart pounded, sweat dripping down her body as she lay next to her mate. All she could think about was him, the one who wasn’t lying beside her. Sometimes she wondered if the Moon Goddess was playing a twisted prank on her.Why had the goddess bound her to a man she had no feelings for? The cruelest part was that Elijah, her mate, was madly in love with her.He was perfect. He had it all. The money, the fame, the sculpted body that made every girl in town jealous. But Selena just didn’t feel it.He wasn’t the one.She wished she could flip a switch in her heart and force herself to love him, but she couldn’t. Her mother adored him. Everyone did. They called them the perfect match, praised their bond, and even joked about the beautiful children they would one day have. But he wasn’t the man she wanted to have children with.It wasn’t hate that she felt, just an emptiness where love should have been. The only reason she was lying in his bed, in his enormous mansi

Chapter 2. Thunder And Regrets

Thunder echoed in the background as Selena stood there, watching Elijah throw her things out of the house. It wasn’t raining yet, but the gloomy, thick clouds in the night sky were enough to let her know that it was about to pour.“Elijah, babe, wait,” she said, her heart thumping in her chest. Her throat had a knot in it, and her body was shaking from fear and adrenaline. “Please…can you just wait?!” she shouted, the maids and other workers looking at them.He stopped. “Selena, as much as I love you, it’s pretty clear that you don’t.”“I do!” she cried. He scoffed, shaking his head. “Be honest with me, Selena. For once in your life, be honest with me. Do you love me?”She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. How could she lie to him?“Exactly,” he said, running a hand through his hair. “I’m done. Leave.”Tears freely fell from her eyes. “Don’t do this to me. Don’t do this to me, please.” Her voice broke at the end. She made no attempt to wipe the tears away, too focused

Chapter 3. My Little Sister

Selena sat in the passenger seat of her mother’s car as they drove home. Her heart was heavy, and shame burned through her. She couldn’t even bring herself to look at her mother. She could feel the disappointment radiating from the older woman, could sense the quiet anger and blame. Her mother didn’t have to say anything…Selena already knew she held her responsible for what had happened. And she was right. It was all her fault. If she had just gotten her emotions under control and treated Elijah better, none of this would have happened. But it had, and there was nothing she could do about it now.“What happened? Why did he just snap and throw you out? Elijah’s a pretty calm person,” her mother said, her tone a mix of disbelief and frustration.Selena let out a faint scoff. “No, he is,” she admitted softly, still staring out the window. “He truly is. But, Mom, I’ve told you…I don’t have feelings for him. How am I supposed to stay with someone I don’t love for the rest of my life?”Her

Chapter 4. Blocked

Selena’s heart was pounding in her chest, and it felt like she was being chased by a wild animal. If anything, she would have preferred that over seeing her sister like this. This was beyond terrifying because she knew she could lose Lily in a second if she didn’t do everything right.“Lily!?” She called her sister’s name over and over as she quickly turned off the stove before heading out of the house with her in her arms.Lily was unconscious, barely breathing. And with each passing minute, it seemed to get worse. Her body was limp and growing colder.“F*ck,” Selena cursed under her breath as she stood on the sidewalk, trying her best to pull out her phone. Once it was out, she tried to dial 9-1-1, but the device slipped from her hand, hitting the pavement and breaking. She knew she was losing precious time, and Lily needed every second, so she started shouting for help. “Help!! Somebody help me!!” she cried. “Please!!!” Tears streamed down her face. Her neighbors soon rushed out of

Chapter 5. I’m F*cked

Selena was frozen for about five to ten seconds before her mind snapped her back to reality. “Lily…” she whispered to herself as she rushed out of the office, chasing after Elijah. Her blood was rushing and her heart was pounding so hard she could barely breathe.Elijah entered a room and she followed him in. That was when she saw her little sister. Lily was convulsing, her entire body shaking violently and her fingers stiff. Before Selena could even process it, Lily suddenly went still and the monitor beside her flatlined, a long, piercing sound filling the room.“Oh my god!” her mother cried when the woman ran in and saw what was happening.“Get them out of here!” one of the nurses shouted, but Elijah raised his hand to stop her.“No, they can stay. Just keep them back.” His voice was calm but urgent as he took control of the room. Before Selena knew it, he had grabbed something from the nearby tray. A nurse poured a white liquid onto it, and Elijah rubbed his hands together before

Chapter 6. It Gets Worse?

The words of the man echoed in her mind but all Selena was really concerned about was her sister. She could still hear the cries of her mom in her mind, and also the sound of the machine that was in the hospital.Selena didn’t care whether the man believed that she wanted to hurt the Alpha or not, she was mostly worried about her sister, if anything were to happen to the girl, she knew it would all be her fault. If she would have just closed her mouth and pretend to love Elijah, all this wouldn’t have happened. This was all her fault, all because she couldn’t be grateful for what she had and wanted more. She knew she would never be able to forgive herself…never.“Are you not hearing a word I’m saying?” The man spoke, standing to his feet. He was wearing a uniform almost as if he was a guard, but he looked more important. More regal. So he probably was a beta or General. Or maybe both.Selena sniffled dryly, her heart twisting as she remembered how blue her sister had gotten. Tears bur

Chapter 7. Karma?

The man walked out of the room, leaving Selena alone. He said that the investigation would take three business days, and that no matter what, death would be her punishment. The only reason for the investigation was to decide what kind of way she would be killed. The council would decide whether it was going to be slow, torturous and gruesome, or whether it was going to be just quick and merciful.Selena was beyond scared, she knew she had messed up and all she wanted to do right now was to make it right. But she didn’t think there could be any way to do that, so all she knew she had to do was to run.So the girl stood up from the bed and walked over to the door, placing her ear on it to make sure that no one was near. When she was sure, she walked away from it and headed to the window. She brushed the curtains to the side and opened the window. Her heart was thumping in her chest and she felt like she was going to have a heart attack, but she knew that if she didn’t leave, she would n

Chapter 8. The Hood

It was quiet, the silence of the night echoing between Selena and her mother. The girl was hurt to the gut by what the woman had said, the words stabbing her.“Mom…” She brushed aside her hurt and took a step closer to the woman, trying to touch her. “Why can’t you understand? Why can’t you see that I can not be with someone I don’t love? Why can’t you see that I don’t want to waste all of my years forcing myself to love a man who I will never love? You loved dad, didn’t you?”“Leave!!” Selena’s mother suddenly shouted at her, almost as if the mention of the omega’s father had triggered her. “I love you, Selena, but Elijah’s right! You need to learn from your damn mistakes! You need to grow up! Take your things and leave.” She turned and walked into the house and climbed the stairs, disappearing. The omega just couldn’t believe what was happening. She stood there, trying to wrap her head around it all. Was this really happening? Was she really being kicked out of her house?“It’s all

Chapter 9. Nowhere To Go

The man threw his belt on the ground, keeping his eyes on the omega. He kept biting his lips, happy that he had found his victim for the night.Selena felt like she was in a nightmare that she couldn’t wake up from. Tears ran down her eyes and she kept dragging herself away. But the man kept walking in her direction. She was disgusted, and thought about shifting into her wolf and fighting in defense, but she knew she would either be badly hurt or killed even if she did that. She wasn’t that strong, and the men were like, four. “Leave the b*tch alone,” The other guy spoke. “She’s not that hot, Eddy. Let’s just take her things and let her go.”“Come on, man. I really need to f*ck something,” he complained.“Not her. You can masturbate later, but don’t touch her. She’s…” he stared at the omega before adding, “She’s just not worth it. Look at how scared she is? It’s a f*cking turn off.”He scoffed, taking his attention off her and focusing on the suitcase he had opened. “Let’s take thes

Chapter 10. The Woods

Selena sighed, putting the phone away. Her heart felt heavier than three elephants. She felt like she was losing her mind, her nerves were all over the place and she was so scared. No matter what, the fear just wasn’t going away. Even with her new plan, she was still very scared. She stood up from the ground and could hear something like a river. She could hear the running water, reminding her of how thirsty she had been since last night. She started walking towards the sound until she finally reached the river. It was flowing not too strongly and there were no wild animals around. She needed to make sure of that because last year, there were reports of wild animals attacking people. But that was last year, this year, there has not really been anything like that. The omega walked over to the water and got on her knees, taking one more look around before putting her hands in the water and collecting some before drinking. She did this a couple of times before her thirst was
