(Chelsea's POV)The door handle turned and it felt like my nostrils had stopped collecting oxygen. Every muscle in my body snapped tight. Leonard’s hand was still around my waist and I realized the sudden doom I was about to face.He was coming in. Adrian was coming in. And any moment from now, he was going to see me in his father's room, wearing his father's t-shirt.Even if Leonard didn't have his hand wrapped around my waist, how was I going to begin to explain? There was no time to even run or hide. The handle moved another fraction."Wait!" Leonard barked. The handle froze."Uh… what?" Adrian asked from the other side.Leonard exhaled sharply, shoulders dropping an inch as he pinched the bridge of his nose before saying, "Don’t come in. I’m… I’m naked."I clamped a hand over my mouth. Naked? That was what he went with? How was that supposed to help the situation?Adrian made a disgusted sound. "Ew—what? Why?""Because," Leonard clenched his jaw. "I have someone in the room with m

(Leonard's POV)I came to the club to drink as usual while I tried to forget all the mistakes I'd made in my life and foolish things I'd done which still haunted me every now and then. But there was one thing I couldn't erase despite the whiskey which burned sharp down my throat. The thought of Chelsea.Every time I blinked, I remembered myself inside of her.I took another another gulp of whiskey, staring at bodies grinding on each other. It didn't distract me as I had hoped."Hey, baby. Long time no see."Jessica's sweet and sugary perfume hit my nose before I lifted my head and saw her. She stood in front of me and leaned close, glossy lips pursed and blonde hair falling over one eye in a way that used to excite me.Now it only irritated me."Jessica." I said flatly."Mmh, don't sound so surprised." She slid onto the seat beside me without asking and crossed her legs slowly like everything she thought about was how to seduce me into getting in bed with her. Even if she'd get paid l

(Chelsea's POV)I felt nervous and uneasy the sooner I made it early to work and I knew I should not have felt like that. It was because of him. Leonard.I neither called or texted him as he had asked when I got home last night. I never planned to.At work, I tried to ignore all forms of distractions as I focused on nothing more than files and paperwork and interviews, including every other thing that I was meant to handle.Except I soon became unlucky. The time finally told past nine, and the city outside the floor-to-ceiling windows glowed in gold and distant red taillights. Everything down there moved in quiet lines. The building hummed softly. The air smelled like leather, paper, and the dark roast coffee Leonard currently had in a cup on his table.I sat across from his desk, pretending to read the report on my tablet for the third time. The numbers blurred. My finger hadn’t scrolled in minutes.I realized he had done this on purpose. Giving me more work to do so I would end up st

(Chelsea's POV)I should have walked out right then. Instead I stayed. I don't know why I stayed. As if my manners refused to go into non existence in moments I needed them to. There was not a bit of my manners or respect Adrian deserved. I didn't want to give him any of it.“I said I wanted to talk,” Adrian said. He leaned forward in his chair, elbows resting on the table, eyes studying me. His gaze dropped slowly from my face to my shoulders, my hands, my lips, then back up again. “You’ve been distant.”I did not respond. Rather, I wondered where he was headed.“You barely look at me anymore,” he continued, tone deceptively calm. “You don’t try to touch me like you'd do on normal days. You pull away even when I try.”I held his gaze. “We both know why.”“When we used to fight or had an argument, there was never once that time you didn't give me the attention I wanted anyways." He said, ignoring my cold response. "You always had time for me. You always—”“That was in the past. It's n

(Chelsea's POV)Another day to be at work arrived. I moved through Grey Properties liks I had worked there for years. I kept my face neutral anyway, even if my cheeks begged to be flushed when I thought of the kind of relationship Leonard and I seemed to be in now. But I needed to stay professional. That was my job.I didn't want to think about Leonard Grey’s hand between my thighs, my breath breaking on his fingers. Those thoughts stayed buried under work. I recited a few sentences in my head that should help.Do not look at him too long.Do not flinch when he comes close.Do not let him hear your heartbeat.Eventually, Leonard and I walked to the conference room where a meeting was to be held. We walked side by side, his strides closely matching mine. Like we were partners. Like we were a couple.People glanced up as we passed, and I began to overthink. As if I could feel them reading the tension between us like it was printed on my skin. The thought made my stomach churn.Conferenc
