Julian and Chastity sat in the back of the limo as he poured champagne into two flutes. He handed her a glass. “Thank you.” He had warned the driver not to disturb them under penalty of death when they had gotten into the limo. All he wanted the driver to do was drive them around until Julian said when to stop. His hope had been to be in Chastity’s bedroom an hour after they ate, but the way people were coming in and out of the mansion that wasn’t going to happen. That’s why he had his driver park outside of the estate. He hadn’t wanted to clue in Daddy Van Dyke that he was still there when they returned home. Oh well, all good things. For the first time in years Julian went to Saint John’s Church with his sister. Cassandra went to mass at least four times a month. When Julian had asked her if she was going to mass today, she had said yes. Then she had looked like she was going to faint when he had said he wanted to go with her. Then Cassandra had nearly died when he said he wanted to get there early enough to go to confession Yes. Julian felt so awful about what he had tried to do to Chastity, he felt like he had to go to confession for the first time in years. A few days after her date with Julian, Chastity headed back to Boston. Her father let her use the family jet. She had texted Julian to let him know she was returning to Boston for a little while but would be back for Thanksgiving. He had texted her back, saying he would see her then and apologized again for trying to compromise her. She walked outside of the Boston Logan International Airport. She didn’t have a suitcase since she had clothes and personal toiletries at the convent. All she had was her purse. As she walked the sidewalk she heard someone calling her name. Several weeks later . . . Chastity had returned to New York for Thanksgiving. This year her mother had gone all out since every in-law branch of the New York Van Dykes were coming. Thankfully, their out-of-state extended family weren’t coming this year. They didn’t have a table big enough to seat everyone if they had. Her mother would have had to rent a tent to have dinner if out-of-state family had shown up. As it were, the staff had to put three leaves in the dining room table to accommodate everyone. Catherine and Cameron had brought Harold and Angela King with them, Cameron’s father and stepmother - and Terrance, Cameron’s half-brother. Saint Barbara’s Convent held their annual Christmas donation drive at BCYF Perkins Community Center on Talbot Avenue in Boston. The director over the center donated the use of the building to the convent free of charge. They were set up in the gymnasium. Two tables were set up to accept baby toys. Three were set up to accept toys from the ages of four to twelve. Four tables were set up to accept clothes for children. Two were set up to accept clothes for adults. There were tables set up to accept donations for electronics like TVs, computers, etc. Chastity and another nun-in-training, Penny, were running table four, donations for adult clothes. The drive was scheduled from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Things were slow when they first opened, but by nine-thirty they began getting people. A week and a half later . . . Chastity and several of the other sisters were at Saint Leonard’s Catholic Church volunteering for their soup kitchen. They would be volunteering all week. The soup kitchen was in the basement of the church. Chastity was placing festive Christmas themed tablecloths on the tables when Jane, a soon to-be-nun, walked in – with Julian behind her. “Chastity, look who came to volunteer with us today?” Jane chirped. Like the rest of them, she was wearing a nun’s veil and black jumper. “Julian,” Chastity said with surprise. “Hey. It was Friday, the last day the sisters of Saint Barbara’s Convent were volunteering at the soup kitchen until the second week of January. Julian was taking up the tablecloths in the dining hall. He was able to get Peter an interview with the director of networking at B&B as a technician. The interview was yesterday. Chastity and Jane were able to give Peter a suit and a few other items of clothing from the donation drive they had. He was due back in Boston today. A week later . . . Chastity had arrived in New York last night. She had thought it best to not to tell anyone about her new assignment in Mexico until after Christmas. She didn’t want to bring everyone down during the Christmas holiday. Chiapas was in the most southern part of Mexico. This might be the last Christmas she would spend in New York for a while – and she intended to enjoy it as best she could. It was Christmas Eve. Christmas Day . . . The family woke up and had breakfast together. Breakfast casserole donned the table along with orange juice, coffee, and Canadian bacon. It looked like Catherine, Cameron, Derek, Chelsea, and their son had arrived at the same time. They were carrying huge bags filled with gifts. Everyone greeted each other and got down to business - the presents. Happy chattering ensued as gifts were being passed here and there. Chastity and Julian arrived at the home of Jennifer ‘Jen’ Ayers. She was a fashion heiress. Her mother was a famous fashion designer. She had long brown hair. It was almost the same shade as Cassandra Beaumont’s – and just as long, too. She wore a long, red dress that hugged her very slender frame.
