Gloss POV When I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was light, soft, golden, and annoyingly bright. The second thing I saw was Dream, sitting in a chair beside my bed, his head tilted slightly to the side, his hand still holding mine. For a moment, I thought I was dreaming. Then reality hit. My throat felt dry, my head throbbed faintly, and my body ached in that strange way that made me feel like I’d been run over by emotions instead of a truck. I tried to sit up, but my muscles protested, and before I could say a word, Dream stirred. His eyes snapped open immediately, sharp and alert, like he hadn’t really been asleep at all. When his gaze met mine, something flickered there, relief, maybe. Or shock that I was still alive after my dramatic hallway collapse. “You’re awake,” he said, his voice rough with fatigue. “Barely,” I croaked, my throat scratchy.
