Astra's POVWe, Jerome and I– were currently sitting in my private office.I'd arrived before him, planted myself in the leather chair that had long molded to my form and turned it away from the desk. Staring towards the window side. The city stretched out behind the window, quiet. The sky was dark and the stars were absent. The sky was clouded just like my thoughts. But not tonight, I couldn't enjoy the beautiful scenery of the city in front of me.Not tonight.I didn’t turn around when he entered.The door creaked quietly, followed by the soft click of it shutting behind him. His footsteps were silent, deliberate. I could feel his presence fill the space. He sat down across from me, the chair giving a faint sound as he sat.But still, I didn’t turn.For five long minutes, maybe more, we sat in thick, suffocating silence. No words, no sighs. Astra's POVWe sat in silence across from each other at the table, my cup of coffee sat in front of me while Jerome's cup of black espresso and whatever else that was, sat just beside him.You'd think after being poisoned that I would stay away from the coffee but here I was.Tension hung heavily between us, it was almost as heavy as the curtains of this private chamber that made the room appear dark if it wasn't drawn.
