The first thing Caierre felt was a force pressing him down. Not the weight of a hand or a blanket, but the heavy, sinking pull of returning to a body that didn’t want him back. His chest felt tight, like someone was pressing a stone against it. His head throbbed with every faint pulse, and the world around him was blurred and too bright at the edges.
