HIS BLOW My body hit the ground harder than I expected , cold concrete meeting the side of my cheek, shocking, heavy, distant. And then, Voices, Sharp, Echoing. Footsteps pounding toward me. Someone gasped loudly. Another voice shouted in panic: “Oh my God, somebody call an ambulance! CALL AN AMBULANCE!” I tried to open my mouth. Nothing came out. I tried to lift my hand. It didn’t move. My body wasn’t mine anymore ,just weight, and heat, and noise. The ringing in my ears grew louder, drowning everyone out until it was the only thing I heard. A blur of shoes crowded around me.
