Chapter 71

At the federal high court. For final judgment.Sofia's POV.Something kept on telling me that Lizzy will be found guilty today. My instincts have never lied to me.I wouldn't want her to be sentenced to death. Or executed; I really want her to be alive and witness every passing moment of her misery in prison. Let her be alive to see the destruction she brought upon herself. She will cry for help, and none will listen to her. That's the condition I will prefer for her. The courtroom was silent. Except for the sound of the ceiling fan. The courtroom couldn't contain all that came to witness what would be the court's final judgment. Many were outside. Some were standing close to the window, peeping through the glasses. Many people have been following this case from the day it found itself into this court. And they're so determined to witness how it will be concluded. The legal correspondence came in numbers. They have taken their sitting position behind the gallery. I was sitting in f

Sofia's POV.Donal was already at home when I arrived. As I entered, I went and sat next to him. “How do you feel now that the court has finally sentenced Lizzy, your sister, to life imprisonment?” Donal asked, blinking his eyes.I never responded to him immediately. I was thinking about the exact word to use.“Well, I think her fate serves her right. I poured out. “It seems Barrister Paul has told you about the outcome of today's court judgment.” I spoke “Yes, he was the one I was speaking with when you walked in. I'm very happy with the outcome. I was thinking maybe you would break down emotionally upon hearing such sentencing.” Donal spoke. His eyes widened.“Breakdown? For what?” I shouted, "This is someone who came for my life and my daughter's life. How can I pity such a person? It is not in my nature to forgive my enemy. And never will it be. It is an eye for an eye.” I poured out.Donal was just looking at me amazed. “Before I forget, barrister Paul will be coming around.

With the shock around me, I quickly moved back. and close the curtains. My mind started traveling to different locations. My eyes were still wide open in shock. What could be the meaning of this? I ask silently. How did this snake in human form manage to find her way into my house? What is Linda actually doing in my house?Who invited her? Who did she come to meet with?Has she come to accomplish the failed mission of Lizzy? I asked. No answer actually came. My chest goes cold. My jaw clenched. The shock of seeing Linda isn't just the issue at all. Apparently, she came into this house courtesy of Donal. What do I call these unfoldings?Could she be the one Donal spoke about? When he said Barrister Paul is not the only one coming? Will I use my two hands to serve food to this fool that betrayed me?. I can't dream of doing such. Not in this life. My mind is heavily disturbed. I couldn't stand in one spot. I was just prancing around. Donal doesn't really know the type of person Lind

What exactly is Donal trying to do? To invite me to come and greet my enemy? For crying out loud, what is all this for? I raged. Anger ran through my body and soul.“Sofia," Donal shouted my name. I didn't answer. I gave it a deaf ear. Linda stood close to Donal, with her eyes still moving around in anticipation.Donal really wants to light up a fire he might not be able to quench even if they make him the head of the fire service. But then I can't run away from Linda. I just need to compose myself and confront whatever is before me. She came to my house. I have no reason to panic nor shiver. I took a deep breath."Why is she not coming forth? What is holding her?" Donal asked. "Sofia,” he shouted my name again for the second time.I held the doorknob, opened the door at once, and moved out. As I raised my head up, I noticed Linda was staring at me even before I came closer. There was no atom of a smile on my face. When I arrived at the spot, I pretended to be defiant. I never acted l

Yes, my heart is fiercely tormented. I waited for a few minutes, then I decided to go and see what was going on in the parlor. As I got to the parlor, everywhere was so quiet and serene. I couldn't find anyone, but uncocked bottles of wine are still on top of the table.I couldn't see Barr Paul; I couldn't find my husband nor the so-called secretary.I quickly rushed to the porch; there I found Donal leaning his body on the pillar all alone. “Donal, I hope all is well. Where are your visitors?” I asked. “Have they gone?”“No, they are still inside the parlor celebrating.” “Please stop the joke. I'm just coming out from the parlor; no one is there.” I poured out.“You started the joke. While you were coming out, did you see anyone inside?” “But this is not how you should respond to the polite question I asked.” My eyes blinked.“You shouldn't have asked such a question in the first place. Because you saw things for yourself.” He poured out.I moved closer to where he was leaning. Hi

At the conference room.Donal's POV.As I arrived, the conference room was set, calm and serene; shock and surprise were written all over the faces of my managers. They have never experienced such an emergency impromptu close-door meeting like this before. Some appear so skeptical, while others are eager to say something. Maybe they actually have something vital to say.I went and sat down quietly. But in full control of myself. I wouldn't want them to notice any form of panic around me.“Hello gentlemen, all side whispering and discussions should be put on hold. Let us face the business of the day. This meeting is very crucial,” I poured out. My eyes moved around the room.“I greet you all once again. And I hope we all saw the information I shared in our private group chat. Maybe some of you might have even seen it elsewhere.”"It is no longer news that somebody out there is trying to bring down this company. When you carefully read that information I posted, at the ending part of it

Sofia and Jack met.Sofia's POV.I can't believe my eyes. No, I can't believe my eyes. Who am I seeing? Is this Jack? Oh my goodness. After a whole long period of time. I wiped my eyes with my hand to be sure of who I was looking at. If this is Jack, then his outlook has really changed.I moved closer to the spot where he stood and was picking some items into the basket he was holding. When I got closer, I shouted, "Jack!”He turned at once; his eyes met with mine.Instantly the basket he was holding fell off his hand with his two eyes wide open in shock, accompanied by a loud scream."No, no, don't come closer to me.” As he was shouting, he was also looking every corner of the shop for an available route to escape. Why is he acting this strange? I asked myself. I became confused by his actions.“Jack, this is me, Sofia. Why are you running away from me? Are you okay?”“You are dead; why are you coming to me? Stay away from me. What did I do wrong?” he shouted.I think something is de

At the Edifice of Donal.Donal POV “Where is Martha?,” I asked.“She is inside sleeping.” Sofia responded.“Make sure you regulate the AC. And keep it moderate because of her health,” I poured out.“I have done that already.” She answered.“Are you doing anything right now?” I asked. My eyes blinked.“No, but in the next hour I will be in the kitchen to start preparing dinner.” She responded.“Like I told you before, I'm making plans to get you a driver. You don't have to be risking your life driving yourself to the market. Or anywhere else, you are a wife of a billion. Such doesn't befit your status.” I poured out. “I don't think I'm interested in having a driver. Moreover, I don't move out often.” Sofia said.“No, you need one or two drivers. In addition, a maid that will be assisting you in going to the market and cooking as well.” I poured out.“I'm still healthy and strong. What do I need a maid for? I hope this is not a good way of you trying to bring Linda into this house.” S

“In addition to what I just said, I had an emergency board meeting yesterday. And in that meeting we discussed a whole lot. Particularly the trending issue. That was our main focus.” “Somebody went and published my private life in public. Accusing me of not being in a real marriage. But rather playing around with different women.”Sofia's eyes froze. “So, what is my business with that?” She poured out. “I think the person never lied.” She added.“Sofia, this isn't a joking matter,” I muttered.“Do I appear like someone who is joking? Answer me, Donal,” she poured out. With a bit of aggression.“Look, Sofia, I had a very long conversation with my investors last night. They have finally seen the rumors flying around social media. It was a conference call. One of them is now insisting I return the part payment they had made to my company.” “Here is the exact statement he made: "Donal, we have seen the information flying around social media, and we have made a careful investigation fro

Sofia escaped death.Sofia's POV I really need to move out of this house completely to a quiet place. I need to think deep over this before giving Donal my final word. Because I will bear the consequences of any decisions I make. This is not about a contract but now a covenant. The man I had in mind to go and embrace when I am out of here is in a deep mess. Jack. He needs urgent help to bounce back as a man.Going to meet him is like asking a man walking in slippery soil to cross me over.“Good morning, madam.” A voice entered, which pulled me out from my reverie.“Good morning to you, Philip. How can I help you?” I asked.“Madam, before your husband left for work this morning, he told me to be driving you to any place you wish to go to until he finds a permanent driver and bodyguard,” Philip poured out.“Is that all you are here for?” I asked him.“Madam, that is all.” He responded.“I have heard you. You can return to your duty post.” Philip turned and left. This is serious. This
