One hundred and thirty one- Aunt

Maren's povI adjusted my coat, taking a deep breath before stepping into the coffee. My aunt is in Seattle. We talked over the phone and she was excited to meet me.That's what she said and I hope she truly does.My heart thumped against my ribs, I pulled the door open and stepped in.Silas and a woman with dark hair were seated at the center table, I clutched my purse tightly and walked towards them. When I was about to reach them the woman turned and she was stunned.“Hello” I smiled as I sat beside Silas, The woman was still looking at me. Surprise written on her face, She smiled back too.“Hello,” Silas greeted with a smile,“She looked just like her” She mumbled, tears beaming in her eyes. “Sorry about that, I am Lucy” “Maren” I said, “It's nice to meet you”“Oh dear…me too” She smiled, I glanced at Silas, he was smiling too.“How have you been?” Lucy said,“I have been…doing good,” I answered,“You look just like your mother,” Lucy wiped her tears, “I am being emotional,” Lu

One hundred and thirty two- Seeing Shirley

Gideon's pov “We are here sir” I heard Harris say, My eyes opened. I tried to sit up but the dizziness from the alcohol intoxication made me fall back.“Are you okay?” Harris asked,“Yes…I…am” I hiccuped, trying to sit up.“Are you sure you want to go in?” Harris questioned, “I want to…I want to see Shirley” I said, grabbing the car knob,I already texted her but she isn't replying. I need to see her.I opened the door and staggered out, making my way into her house building. When I reached her door, I knocked, rang the bell but no reply.“Shirley” I pounded on her door and still didn't get any answer.I slumped down In front of her door, My head pounding.I wasn't sure how long I was at Shirley's door when she woke me up.“What are you doing here?” She asked as she helped me up.“I knocked you didn't open up” I said instead,“I went out for an important gig,” she answered. She opened the door to her apartment. “Let's you in before anyone sees us” Shirley helped me inside, “You'r

Maren's pov “Seattle is…so much different from Dallas” My aunt said as she took a sip from her coffee.“I know ... .Rain, Rain and rain” Rylee added and we all laughed.Rylee and my aunt really got along and it made me happy.I smiled watching them interact. It was peaceful. The trolling on the internet has finally calmed but not fully. At least I no longer get stares from people who recognize me.“So you're still joining us for lunch?” Rylee asked my aunt, Lucy.“Of course, I have no business here” Lucy laughed, “But as long I am doing cooking”“I hope you don't mind, Maren?” Lucy turned to me.“I don't” I smiled, My eyes fell on the television showing a Hockey game. And my mind drifted to Gideon.Again.I wondered how he was doing.I shouldn't.Not after the way he had spoken to me.No.“Maren?”“Maren?”Rylee called.“Yes?” I turned to her,“We need to leave now” Rylee said, She and Lucy had started gathering their things.****“Your aunty is so funny” Rylee said as we stepped out

Gideon's pov“Here” Jaxon handed me a cup of coffee before sitting next to me.“Thanks” I smiled, my gaze stayed on the tv screen.Jaxon had been with me since yesterday, I had gone to the port after leaving Shirley’s place. I can't believe she did that to me, She didn't even deny it.She really meant it when she told me I will regret choosing Maren.Maren…I had hurt her, blamed her for all of this while she was innocent all this time and I couldn't face her.I hate that I did that to her.I hate that I feel so stupid.“Hey, Hey…you’re zoning out” Jaxon pushed at my shoulder gently.“I am not…”“You are”I turned to him, “Will Maren ever forgive me?”I have said hurtful words to her.“...Maren is such a good person…it might take time but she will one day” Jaxon took a sip from his mug. “You know I kind of suspect Shirley…I never thought she would actually do such a thing”“Me too…I am stupid to have gone to her, I feel like she is losing her mind” I said, I remembered how she yel

One hundred and thirty five- Sorry.

Maren's povI dropped the painting brush, it was the last stroke needed to complete my mother's painting.I stepped backwards to take a look. It was a beautiful painting. And she was beautiful.A small smile appeared on my lips, I picked up my phone to take a picture. I scrolled through my notification to see if Gideon had read my reply or answer to it.I didn't expect to want to talk so soon after all he hadn't even said anything about what happened between us.The only text we shared before the game was about the seat at the rink and how I was doing.I hated that he wouldn't talk to me.I shouldn't care anymore, I shouldn't care that he didn't want to explain or apologise.A stray tear streamed down my cheek, I dropped my phone and cleaned the tears when I heard the door to Silas's study.I turned to the entrance. It was Silas who was holding two mugs of brewing coffee.“You're done” He smiled, I smiled back, “yeah, I just did the last stroke of paint”“Oh…it is beautiful, She look

Gideon's pov“More” I said to the bartender in front of me, He pulled some more Vodka into the shot cup but before I could grab it, Jaxon snatched it from me.“Give it back” I slurred, My vision a little distorted from drunkenness.“That's enough, Gideon” “Just…give it back” I said, trying to take the cup from him but I stumbled from the bar stool and clashed down with Jaxon. He groaned, “You're too drunk to move” he mumbled as he stood up and helped me up.“I just want… to have… a drink” I hiccuped, “You had enough, now let's go” Jaxon said before saying something to the bartender that I couldn't hear properly.“You…should have a drink…with me” I tell Jaxon,“We already did, Now it is time to go home” He said, Jaxon placed my arm around him to rest my weight on him.“Do…you…think she truly forgives me? Or will she give another…chance?”“I don't know Gideon but you need to do better?”“I am trying…I..I” I hiccuped again.“You need to try harder” I heard Jaxon open the door to the

One hundred and thirty Seven- We are not close

Maren's pov I was in the basement of Mrs Bowen’s library, packing some of my art materials when I heard her calling running down the basement stairs.“Maren”“Maren”I heard her laughing, excitement in her voice.“Mrs Bowen, what happened?” I questioned, “There's a flower delivery for you”“Flowers?” I repeated, “Yes…Flowers, a large bouquet” She smiled, pressing her hands together.“Where?”“In the library, it's from your boyfriend” She smiled,Boyfriend.Gideon.I felt my cheeks pull like in a smile, I followed Mrs Bowen into the library. There was the largest flower bouquet I have ever seen.“These are beautiful and it has a note” Mrs Bowen said pointing to the note.I picked up the note and opened it.It reads;Maren, I have wronged you in so many ways, actions, words, Please let make it up to you.Have a good day, Love.He drew a smiley face too.I couldn't help but smile, I slid the note into my pocket and grabbed the large bouquet, I sniffed burying my face into it.“He is so

Gideon’s pov“I can't believe they're putting me on hiatus” I grumbled, bringing the cup of whiskey to my mouth.Jaxon was sitting across from me, typing furiously on his phone.“Jaxon?” I called, he glanced at me.“Yes?” He answered, putting his phone away.“Is something wrong?” I asked, “You were typing on that phone like something is wrong” “Nothing is wrong…I am talking to Jake, he wants to how you doing”“Oh…well better, I could use the time to woo back Maren” I said, trying to be positive. At least I am not drunk to the stupor, it was a good progress on my side.“Have you talked to Maren?” Jaxon asked, his eyes were on his phone screen. His foot kept tapping the floor.“Not yet, I didn't get a phone today but I sent her flowers. Rylee suggests we go on a trip, you know for the media. I was thinking that I should use the opportunity to please Maren” I rambled, Jaxon looked at me like I just said the dumbest thing he had ever heard.“Is it not a good idea?” I grimaced.“Yeah…sh

Maren's pov “Wipe that sheepish smile off your face” Rylee glared at me as she sat down beside me.Last night, I asked about her and Jaxon. At first she denied it at first but later opened up.Sadly she ended things with Jaxon too.She told me it wasn't that serious and I should forget about it.“Don't you like him? Like a little?” I asked,“No, Maren. It's just casual sex, We bothe horny, we f**k we have freaking arrangements that could be ended at any time!” Rylee hissed, “So please let stop talking about Jaxon”“Jaxon, is lovely…” “Shhh…No boys talk” “Okay” I gave up, my shoulders slumping down.“You're going to the gallery right?” Rylee asked, picking up her toast.I nodded, “Yeah…Abel wants me to see what they are doing with the exhibition” I answered, picking up the coffee cup in front of me.“I will give you a ride and this afternoon I will send you the details of the trip” Rylee said,“Okayy” I smiled, “I still can't believe it…You and Jaxon”“Maren!”“Sorry…sorry”****I

One hundred and forty- Dinner

Gideon's povThe turns of events make everything seem slow.Shirley told me, She used to carry my child and she aborted the pregnancy, she didn't even tell me a thing. All this made me realize that she is a psycho, she wouldn't have told me about the pregnancy if I hadn't found out about the contract's photos. She hadn't come to apologize, she had come to waltz her way into my life with pity and I am not letting her in again. Never.“Are you okay?” Jaxon asked, taking me out of my thoughts.“Yeah…I am good” I nodded, pushing off the wall.“I can't believe I am not playing with you tonight,” Jaxon said, putting his helmet on his head.“Don't worry, I will be somewhere on the bleachers. Watching over you all” I joked, the rest of our teammates laughed and Jaxon shook his head.“We will miss you, Giddy” Jake yelled,I smiled at him, my eyes falling in my own empty cubicle.“When did you get cheeky?” Jaxon smiled, “Coping mechanism” I shrugged,“So is dinner gonna work?” Jaxon asked quie
