Hannah “It feels like I haven’t seen you in days,” I tell him, standing frozen in his embrace. “You saw me last night,” He says simply. I frown, fighting the urge to roll my eyes at him even though he won’t see it.“Briefly, as it has been for the past few days,” I don’t know what I’m saying anymore, but when has anything I’ve done since coming here been on rational thoughts? Hannah “Call me when you’re done, okay, Doc?” The expression on Victor’s face is serious as he leans over and stretches his arm across the passenger's headrest, brow raised. I am beginning to come to terms with the fact that the Romans have a thing for giving out nicknames, as though a given name is a curse they’ll rather not speak, because no matter how many times I correct them—Victor especially, they never listen. I stare down at his number on my phone, it feels strange, but I nod with a muttered ‘thanks’and he’s speeding out the driveway, totally ignoring the sign that basically says not to.
