Silas walked back to his desk and sat down. He picked up the papers he had been reviewing and then set them back down because he was not actually going to read them right now. The dining table in Silas' private meeting room was set for lunch by the time Caine and Griffin arrived from the inner rooms. It was not the large formal dining hall. Silas had arranged for the meal to be served in the smaller room he used for meetings with visiting dignitaries, a room with one long table and enough chairs for six people and a window that looked out over the left side of the palace grounds.It was more intimate than the main hall and that was deliberate. Caine set down his utensil and sat back slightly in his chair. "Those laws are gone. I lifted them the week after I took the alpha position." He said it plainly in a calm tone. Footsteps coming down the corridor, more than one set, moving at a normal pace rather than the hurried pace of people who had found something urgent. BACK AT HERICONSilas walked fast and the messenger had to move quickly to stay ahead of him.The council members followed behind Silas, and Caine and Griffin came after them.
