Aiden POV Thalia is a mystery to me. Her uncle said her life has been hard. Reid and I suspect she’s been assaulted, but she clearly knows how to defend herself. Around strangers she stiffens. Then she gets embarrassed and blushes easily. She is this tough exterior and yet she is still vulnerable and innocent. I want to ask her a lot, but I don’t want her to pull away either. Aiden POV When Thalia said ‘yes’, I was thrilled. I thought she was beginning to trust me. When I felt her body shiver and lean into me, I thought she was relaxing. Then she pulled away. She said she was nervous about the kiss. I know it’s more than that, but I don’t know how much though. She said she had never been kissed before. Thalia POV I noticed that my acceptance was different from Mia’s. She only had to accept Aiden as her Alpha. I had to accept him as my mate and Alpha. We are fated mates and I get it, but it made me feel trapped. I shouldn’t feel this way because Aiden has been good to me and my sister. He has been at the ready to defend and protect me more than once. I am overwhelmed though. Overwhelmed by his kindness. Overwhelmed by his need to protect me. Overwhelmed by his warmth. Just overwhelmed. But trust. That’s hard for me; especially given my past. I never know what cruelty life is going to throw my way. How can I trust he will not turn into some sort of monster later. My father supposedly loved my mother at one point, but now he hits her. What if Aiden does that to me? No. Better to keep him at arm’s length. Once we get back to our room, I go to the closet, only to see my side has more clothes. I turn around and look at Aiden. He gives me a shy smile, and once again, I’m swept up in it.
