JUNIPER.The dinner table has been quiet since Luke joined us. My face has been buried in my food, and I try to force every bite down my throat even though I don't have any appetite to eat. Dante is completely silent, acting like he didn't kidnap Luke days ago because he took me out on a date. His silence bothers me more than it should, perhaps it's because I find it to be more dangerous than when he speaks. When I finally lift my eyes, I notice the way Simon is staring at me, like I owe him something, and I can't help but wonder what all of that is about. Adelaide nudges me with her elbow all of a sudden, forcing me to look at her with furrowed eyebrows. “Look..” she motions with her chin and I turn only to find Luke and Rivera whispering to each other and smiling. I find nothing wrong with it, but Adelaide speaks up rather too quickly.“Rivera.” She calls, and everyone lifts their head, including Dante. I glance at him for a quick second before diverting my gaze back to Adelaide.

JUNIPER.As soon as Adelaide walks in through the front door, she freezes at the sight before her. Dante is sitting in the living room with a scowl on his face and his chest rising and falling in anger. I am standing a few feet away from him, biting my lip and wondering if I did the right thing by telling him the truth. He was kissing me earlier when I stopped him to tell him the reason why I came to his room in the first place. He had dropped everything and called Adelaide, asking her to return to the house immediately. “Dad, what's going on?” She asks, her voice low and shaky. She glances at me with a raised eyebrow but I shift my gaze to the nearest object, my heart racing. “Do you know what time it is?” Dante asks, his voice deep and commanding. “Yes dad, I know. I just went to see a friend off.” Adelaide replies quickly. “A friend? Or that degenerate boyfriend of yours!?” Dante flares, his palms squeezing shut, and Adelaide snaps her head in my direction, shock in her eyes.
