Zeta’s POV She refuses to stay in the guest room as she crosses her arms over her chest, even though she’s still looking pale from the hospital. “Couch is fine.” Her voice comes out neutral. I hold her gaze for a second, feeling that low burn in my gut, the one that says I could make her go upstairs if I really wanted to, but I don’t. Not tonight, I don’t want her to get mad at me if I do that. “Alright, Lyssa. Couch it is.” I nod to the maids hovering by the door. “Maria, Sofia, get the couch set up. Extra fluffy pillows, the softest throw blankets from the linen closet.” Maria dips her head quick, her dark ponytail swinging. “Right away, sir.” They bustle over, fluffing cushions and layering blankets in under a minute, turning the massive L-shaped sectional in our living room into a cozy nest comfortable for Lyssa.
