Chapter 44 The bus driver braked sharply after the collision and turned on the hazard lights, pulling over onto the shoulder to allow the flow of cars. He tried to calm most of the passengers; some were talking nonstop, some women were screaming in fear, and some children were crying. He quickly got off the bus, doing his duty as a driver, grabbing the cones to signal the lane and prevent another accident. Meanwhile, some tense passengers stepped out to breathe the fresh night air and calm themselves. He placed the cones at a reasonable distance and then ran toward the fire from the car that had exploded. He sighed deeply because he knew it was impossible to help the driver of the vehicle, who was already dead by that point.
