The sound was deafening, a continuous crack and roar that vibrated through the floor. I heard Daddy’s voice roaring orders, raw with fury. Felix shouting something I could not make out. The sharp, wet sound of someone taking a bullet and still staying on their feet.Then the smoke parted.Marcus stepped through as if the chaos belonged to him. He was not rushing. He moved with the same cold precision that had guided every photograph, every package, every threat he had sent into our lives. In his hand was a gun, already raised.
