Rachel swung her legs over the side of the bed, testing her weight carefully. Her body screamed in protest, every movement sending jolts of pain up her side and through her ankle.“I can… I can walk,” she murmured, wincing.Alaric’s eyes narrowed, his expression taut with concern. “Rachel, don’t push yourself—”She took a shaky step forward, breath catching in her throat.
