Liora, Lily, Ian, Brad, and two other nurses stood around the bed as they tried to diagnose what was wrong.“She had just an arm fracture, and we were able to stabilize her, but now it seems like something else is going on,” one of the nurses said, hurrying after Liora.“Heart rate one forty and climbing,” Ian added, reading from the monitor.Liora was already at the bedside, her fingers pressing firmly into the patient’s abdomen, her eyes fixed on the monitor.“Oxygen saturation’s falling,” Lily said, then louder, “Eighty-two and dropping.”“This isn’t respiratory,” Liora said sharply, her voice slicing through the noise. “This is hemorrhagic shock.”“But there was no sign of bleeding earlier,” Lily said, her brows squeezed in confusion.Liora’s jaw tightened as she continued to move over the patient's abdomen.“Looks like the paramedics missed it," Liora said. The monitor screamed again, going off with a loud beep.“BP’s tanking,” Ian said, adding, “Seventy systolic.”Liora straighte

"Hello, Travis."The smile on her face was warm and inviting. Her beautiful face was framed by her long wavy red hair, which was the same as he remembered."Hello Nicole," Felix said with a warm smile beside Travis."Ms. Nicole Stuart! Over here!""I guess we better get inside." Nicole grinned.Travis nodded, knowing he needed to watch his body language because of the reporters behind him.The Palace hotel lobby was huge and looked beautiful. A large chandelier hung from the ceiling, casting a warm glow in the hall.People stood in groups as they all waited to be ushered into the hall. Renowned doctors and philanthropists in the city were all present."How have you been?" Felix asked, smiling at Nicole."I've been good. It's good to see you here," Nicole responded."You look amazing, right Travis?" Felix asked, jabbing him with his shoulder.Travis shrugged, his face blank and totally unreadable."My team is responsible for the media coverage within the building. I'll see you around,"

Liora stared at the room, covered in rolls and rolls of tissue paper. The room looked like it had been designed with a whole bunch of toilet paper. From the center table of the lounge on the right to the office table on the left side of the room, everything was covered in tissue paper."Mom is going to see us! Shheesssshh," Amelia whispered. They were under the office table with just their legs visible to the eyes.Liora saw them, her eyes narrowed, shaking her head at their effort to hide."Amelia and Adrian Adams! Come here now!" Liora shouted, pointing at a spot in front of her. They remained there, thinking she didn't see them and hoping she would leave."Come out now! You don't want me to come pull you out." Liora stated firmly, both hands on her waist."You're not going to listen to me, are you?" Liora said, walking towards the table. She walked around it and bent down till she came face-to-face with them."I think we should go out," Adrian whispered."Yes, listen to him, Amelia

Fiona stayed on the phone for a few more seconds before ending the call.“Tell me you’ll stay; it would give you more time to yourself without having to worry about them.” Fiona pleaded as she turned to face Liora again.“Please, Mom!" Amelia pleaded. Her small eyes were narrowed as her lower lip shot out, making her pleading face very funny.“I want to stay with Grandma White, Mom," Adrian added.Liora thought about it, shrugged, and said, “Well, I could keep the cabin at the hotel for some other personal things."“Yes, that sounds like a yes. You’re staying with Grandma," Fiona said in excitement.“Yeahhhh!” The twins shouted in excitement.“Only if," Liora warned, staring at the twins to get their attention before adding, “you behave yourself.”“I will," Amelia replied with a grin, putting up her right hand.“Me too," Adrian added.“This is wonderful. The house is going to be full,” Fiona muttered in excitement.“It's just the kids and I; I'm sure Lily and Ian would want to stay at

At the sound of the voice, Liora’s shoulder stiffened. The odd familiarity of it made her eyes harden as she turned to look back.“It is really you.”Liora stared at the woman in front of her. Years of the cruelty she had shown her flashing back in her mind.“Hello, stepmother," Liora muttered.“It’s good to see you actually remember who I am.” Elizabeth Adams said as she looked Liora from head to toe.“What do you want?” Liora asked.Elizabeth’s eyes narrowed as she stated, “That’s rich coming from someone who looks like she abandoned her family.”“Abandoned?” Liora asked, shaking her head at how incredulous she sounded.“What else should your showing up now be classified as? You’ve been back a while, and you don’t even bother to check up on your family!” Elizabeth snapped.“Who exactly are you referring to as family? Me? The same one you sold off into marriage for your own useless personal gains?” Liora said in a hard voice. The car park was now completely dark, except for the ray o
