~Olivia~ Diane walked a little ahead of me, swinging her hair at her side, humming under her breath like nothing in the world could bother her. I envied that ease. That lightness. The way she seemed to exist without second-guessing every step. “You’re quiet,” she said suddenly, glancing back. “Like… suspiciously quiet.” “I’m fine,” I replied, reflexively. She stopped walking. I almost bumped into her. “That’s your third ‘I’m fine’ today,” Diane said, folding her arms. “And every time you say it, you look like you’re about to either cry or scream. So pick one.” I let out a breath I didn’t realize I’d been holding. “Can we sit for a minute?” She studied my face, then nodded. “Yeah. My room.
