Ame POV I didn’t sleep well last night, Dessa’s parting words last night were festering within me like an infection. Who was she to warn me…I’m not as despicable as her. Ame POV Dessa is on me in a flash, her movement knocking me backwards as she pries my hand away from her son, my back hitting the bed. Ame POV The arguing around me is deafening. Dessa screaming like a banshee at Calian to escort me off their lands, Calian making accusations at Balgaire…Balgaire defending me. We are stuck together in a compact waiting area, the doctors refusing to let Dessa and Calian anywhere near the emergency room. I sit in silence, indifferent to their frantic wails. The boy will live, I know he will…I have made sure as such. Dessa POV “Mum?” Athan steals my attention away from the door, my eyes remain narrow with hatred as I watch her leave. How dare she threaten me, how dare she speak to me in that tone. I adjust my demeanour, planting a smile on my face as I turn to face my boy. He can’t know that something is wrong, that her presence troubles me. “Athan baby, how are you feeling?” I move to the side of his bed, my hand running across his forehead as I feel his temperature.
