Through the poor-excuse-of-a-hiding space I was at, my eyes widened as I took the form of the figure that had its both arms around a female wolven. She seemed to be in her early twenties, or younger. Pale hair streaked with blood flowed across her chest as the creature cradled her closer. Its mouth on the crook of her neck, as it took large gulps of blood. I didn’t think my eyes could widen more than they already have, or I could feel colder than I already did. But I did. I'd taken my focus off the wolven and glanced at the figure. Its eyes were bloodshot, black veins crawling underneath them till they reached the sides of its jaw. I could make out the exact shape of its head, the hair on it barely a handful. The air was thick with tension and the restrained annoyance of my father as he stalked around his study, a glass of whiskey at hand and his jaw clenched. The familiar dark hair of his that Keyleth had inherited from him, swept against his broad shoulders over the brown tunic he wore. The resemblance between them was clear, irrespective of their striking beauty. Keyleth had taken my dad's rich and wavy dark hair, the rich olive brown colour of his skin and the shape of his lips and his eyes, a bright forest green, while I'd only inherited the shape of his face. It was past noon and the tension in the throne room had dispersed. Well, almost. Alpha Reuel and Luna Elena of the Skylarron pack had taken their leave, leaving their daughter—Stella in the castle. For some reason, Arias was still here and he was—at the moment—having a meeting with father in his study. The hallway was quiet, there were no servants bristling around with work to do, and the atmosphere was…calm.But I wasn't.I could still feel the embers pressing against me, the frustration burning in my veins. Kicking away from the door, I walked away from Keyleth's room. I needed help with the embers, something to keep me calm or change whatever I was feeling to something else, and Keyleth was usually good at making me irritated. That was far better than what I was feeling.
