NORA’S POINT OF VIEW.The air in the room seemed to turn to gravel, and my eyes felt like they would pop out of their sockets. Damien clung to me for what felt like dear life, his eyes full of despair and pain. “W-what?” I sputtered, my head hot and heavy with a headache. “I,....how could Asher have…” I said with a laugh that came out broken and confused. “Ive known him since forever, Damien….it’s not possible.” Suddenly, Damien pulls away from me, leaving me to the sudden cold in the living room. I wrapped my arms around my body and watched as he took off his jacket, his tie, his watch, and took out a pack of cigarettes. Sliding against the wall, he didn’t bother with the couch as he lit the flame, lighting the butt of the Cuban cigar before inhaling its poisonous fume. The sweet, heavy scent of tobacco filled the space between us. I watched him pat the spot beside him softly, calling for me.
