KADE I knew something about smells, being an Alpha wolf and all that, and the city didn't smell right tonight. There was the smell of metal and oil and rain water. Then there was something else. KADE The spokesperson moved before the others, feeling so confident of himself. And he had a right to be. Man was faster than a normal wolf. His claws came right at my throat but I was able to shift to the side, catching his wrist before his blow landed. The bone underneath cracked once, twice, and the rogue bawled in pain like he was in labor. Liora moved to the other side of him and drove her knee into the back of his leg. The joint there displaced and the rogue dropped to the ground. She didn't waste time letting him regain his footing but used her elbow to connect with the back of his skull. That was his ticket to unconsciousness. I didn't even have the time to check if he was dead or not. The other wolves still circled us, but they did it slowly now. More careful after seeing what had become of their spokesperson. But that didn't mean he wasn't careful too. One with a scar across his jaw spoke up. "You're strong," he said in admittance. His eyes was the color of gold.

THERE'S BLOOD AND THERE'S BULLETS

KADEThe hunter squeezed the trigger and the sound of his rifle resounded across the rooftop we were on. You could say it was like some thunderclap just after a spark of lightning. KADE The order from the lead hunter was sharp. I wasn't comfortable with that gesture. Felt like someone was giving me an early dose of mercy. And what would come next would be painful. KADE If I hadn't been watching her at that very moment, I would have missed it. Wouldn't have noticed the twitching of her fingers. But I didn't miss anything at all. How could I?
