For a brief second, his eyes locked with hers—deep, unreadable, and carrying a weight she couldn’t decipher. And then just like that, he let her go without hesitation, leaving no trace of what had just passed between them. He looked around, no one could see them. Devi stood rooted to the spot, her entire body frozen in place. Her lips parted slightly, but no words came out. Her thoughts lagged behind reality, struggling failing to catch up with what she had just heard, what she had just felt. The silence he left behind was louder than anything he could have said.
