[Ariana]I am not sure how long I fell until my body slammed into the sodden ground with a loud slap. Dark slimy water ran down my face, as I looked up to see new leaves and sticks covering the hole, making my location almost invisible.My first thought had been that I was at the bottom of some kind of animal trap, possibly for large game, or a predator of such. But this hole was too wide, wet, and deep for that. I was at the bottom of an old, earthen well, and based on the long strings of spiderwebs and other creatures, it was long abandoned, and forgotten. “Damn it,” I swore as I rolled over onto my side, surprised that I wasn’t as broken as I expected to be considering the fall.
