CIAN'S POV The Northwind Palace loomed against the night sky like a dark fortress. Rowan and I crouched in the shadows at the edge of the tree line, watching the guards make their rounds. We'd been observing for twenty minutes, counting patterns, looking for weaknesses. "Something's wrong," Rowan muttered beside me. "There should be more guards. Way more, especially after tonight." He was right. The palace should have been locked down tight after Lara's escape.
